Afraid it the treatment meds for osteoporosis
I’m 68 with latest spine score of-37. My body type is very thin with BMI 19- but I eat extremely healthy diet and do excellent exercise every day - no falls. I have no other health issues so dont need to take medications. I’m totally petrified to take any of the medications I’ve been told I need for treatment of osteoporosis. I don’t know what to do! I know breaking bones will be awful but I’m so weary of these poisons they want to put in my body.

Omg yes- that’s a very scary one!
I feel the same way! I'm 62 and healthy--slender, runner, cyclist, clean eater, no alcohol, no smoking. I went through menopause in my early 50s when HRT was seen as a danger. I'm focusing on weight lifting and heavy weights. Search "The weights program doing heavy lifting in fight against osteoporosis | 7 News Australia" on youtube. I tried Fosamax one dose orally; it made me sicker than I've ever experienced--extreme aches for days.

Such a difficult situation- I did try an oral medication after my first BD Scan resulting in severe Gerd symptoms for about a month, so only did the one
dose. If you don’t mind me asking, what are your T scores?
@mahonlye There are many people here who have explored or are interested in exploring treating osteoporosis without medications. If you enter your specific question into the general search bar here, you will find a lot of information that you may find beneficial. Best wishes to you moving forward!

There are online consults with physical therapist who are experts in bone health and affiliated with BHOF(bone health and osteoporosis foundation).

I hear you as I was reluctant to go on biphosphinates however had my mother to observe through the years with fracture after fracture. She did not commit to bone meds and I thought my chances of progressing to her scenario might be too high.
