3-month survival for stage IV lung cancer? Is it true? Need hope
I was on internet checking for stats on survival time for stage IV lung cancer. One site mentioned that most people have a 3 month survival time!! Obviously, I was shocked and very discouraged re: my diagnosis over month ago. I have still to consult doctor and find out what type of cancer I have. I know it is NSCC non small cell cancer which metastiziced to my right temple which makes it stage IV. I will need to go for further test to see where it may be surfaced. A PET scan over month ago found it left lung.

Three years ago I was not doing well couldnt sleep and ran across the Penn state medical college review ov cancer studdies from 66 to 2020 19000 people surveyed and a takeaway was 4 oz or more mushrooms in diet per day reduced cancers by 45 %. Only a survey but I have 3 years hi dose mushrooms daily. This interested me in diet studies so I have tbs ground flax seed daily as well as hemp seed and chia seed all with good omega 3 to omega 6 balance. I sprinkle turmeric powder on most meals for its antioxident effect. It should be taken with black pepper and green tea I eat a wide range of greens like brassicas kale collards horseradish greens broccoli nasturtium leaves, dandelion ,nettles(steamed) to deactivate stinging. I try to avoid sugar in its various forms as it is added to many commercial food products. I try to do intermittent fasting most days. This year I am trying to increase my resveratrol intake red grapes and also in Japanese Knotweed a leaf per day and some tincture in cold weather. Vit D levels are key as well as magnesium and vit C. I have made sure to run ideas by my oncologist as some types of foods can interfere with some kinds of chemo. I try to grow veggies in my yard. I hope these things might be helpful for you. While one is taking chemo other diet considerations should be discussed with the Mayo nutritionist. Look at stress levels and exercise as one can.

I was diagnosed stage 4 nsclc at age 64 now 72 no chemo for 12 months at this point, radiation and chemo kill fast growing cells including cancer cells but diet and lifestyle change is needed to try to make internal environment less friendly to cancer stem cells. Based on my experience I believe these changes to be helpful as an adjunct to the conventional and important therapies.
