New antidepressant: Has anyone tried Auvelity?

Anyone know the name of new antidepressant, approved by FDA, that's supposed to be available at end of this year?

I started this last week. I am feeling a little better depression wise but after each pill I get extremely tired and fall asleep for at least an hour or so. Has anyone else experienced this? Hoping that it goes away.

I just received two bottles of samples of Auveltiy from my doctor to try.
I have treatment resistant depression and have tried everything you can think of. Hoping this will work. Has anyone tried it?

I just got sample from my doc also.🤞🙏🤞 Hope it works for both of us. I gave treatment resistant depression and no meds have helped me very much over last 10 yrs. I just did Spravato for 4mths - Had good results for first 3mths but it peaked there and fell backwards during 4mth. Dr suggested Auvelity. She said she is seeing good things with it. 🤞

@pasca I appreciated your post on Auvelity. I hope you will find this encouraging; I've been on it for about 10 months now, with very few side effects, and it seems to be working better than anything I've tried for the last 10+ years. That's not to say that I haven't had some bad days, but like you, being treatment resistant, I've found it pretty amazing to help as much as it has. I was interested to know about your experience with Sprovato. I was on the verge of trying it when I found out about the Auvelity. I opted to go with it just because it was much easier to take. Let me know how you're doing. I hope it is helpful! I know how hard life can be when you feel like there is nothing left to try. I'll be keeping fingers crossed for you! Take care! Here's to both of us getting much better!

Hi, I just joined the group. I haven't read enough of this discussion about Auvelity to know if many have had success with it. My psychiatrist is going to be prescribing it for me. I'm 62 years old and have struggled with depression and anxiety all my adult life. Within the last 10-15 years my depression has become resistant to treatment. I had ECT in 2006 and then again in 2019. I had some success but the effects on my memory was horrible. I took many different medications. In the last 3 years I have been battling periodic bouts with suicidal thoughts. Last year I had 36 TMS treatments that had virtually no impact on me. Towards the end of last year I started Spravato treatments. That's the nasal spray version of ketamine. Those treatments are still ongoing but, so far, have had minimal impact on my depression. I'm currently taking trintellix and wellbutrin. I also take klonopin for anxiety. I have not found out if my insurance will cover Auvelity. If it doesn't I may not be able to try it. I have been on disability for my depression for about 2.5 years. I have Medicaid and Medicare. Medicare started prescription coverage last year. It isn't part d. I think it's because I am on disability. Regardless, so far, everything ever prescribed has been covered 100%. I'm hoping Auvelity will be covered too. I am feeling pretty defeated right now. It's not like I have a bad life. I have a great family and awesome friends. Nothing seems to matter anymore. No energy, no interest in anything, feeling isolated from loved ones from my own doing. I really don't know what to do,especially if Auvelity doesn't help. I've had decades of psychotherapy. Please keep me posted on your experiences with Auvelity. Thank you.

@bradd106 My heart goes out to you. It sounds like you've had a pretty rough time, and it's so terribly discouraging to be treatment resistant. I am 72 years old and have had MDD for the last 35+ years. I started off on zoloft which worked great until it didn't. I am grateful that it gave me a full and complete life for about 8 years, but when it quit working I, like most treatment resistant people, found it hard to go on at times. I tried everything you can think of, some of which did nothing at all, and some that made me much worse. I am happy to report that after being on Auvelity for about 10 months now that it has helped more than anything I've tried since the zoloft quit working, and with very few side effects. I'm a little late in seeing your post, but I hope you are having some success with the Auvelity. Keep us posted. Hang in there. I do truly hope Auvelity is one of those "right" things. Keeping fingers crossed for you and wishing you the very best!

I started taking Auvelity almost a week ago. It scares me to say but I think it is already starting to help. I am cautiously optimistic. I've had ECT, TMS and Spravato. I'm still having Spravato treatments. I'll keep you posted. I would be so shocked to actually experience some relief.

@bradd106 just curious if you are still taking Auvelity? If so, how’s it working?

Hi everyone. I have treatment resistant depression. I was first medicated at 13 (I suspect I was a normal moody teen) and I’m 43. Thirty years and 18 medications. 2 hospital stays. CBT, DBT, EMDR. Talk therapy twice a month. Ketamine therapy. Last week I met with my psych and told him I’ve lost all hope.
He suggested Auvelity. Now, Wellbutrin on its own was unpleasant for me but he said it’s different how they work together.
So, today is my 3rd day. I’ve had some nausea and insomnia. I will very tentatively say that I feel my mood is significantly better. I’m cautiously optimistic.
I will keep you posted on my experience.

Spravato was certainly interesting and helpful for about 3 months but then peaked. My psych suggested Auvelity as they have seems results thus far even better than Spravato and yes easier since it's pill versus weekly time commitment for Spravato administration.

I have started Auvelity. My side effects are feeling high, extremely dry mouth, brain fog and depressed appetite. That being said, I am beginning to feel alive again, for the first time in years. Hoping the high feeling goes away and had brain fog before so....
In my opinion, it could definitely be a game changer.
