Hi everyone. I'm Marcy and my spinal pain became chronic in 1977. Now I have severe knee pain
One wonderful dr said that my knee was bone on bone on one side but not the other so it would be too early to operate. He also said because of my history, etc. he would never operate anyway
Going to my physiatrist soon for help. I am widowed and renovated my kitchen and dining area and a few weel job turned into months - had no kitchen for 4 months and put on weight. I was looking to lose weight
Also coldn'-t go to pt tp exercise - had to be home and do nothing. Left me in a bad way. Any ideas would be greatfully accepted.
Previously , I taught math in college- full time for 25vyears plus other part time, had a child - now 48 next Monday.
Hope some of you feel better than me !!!

Yes, chiropractors do ART. You will need to search online to make sure you find one who is certified in ART. My chiropractor is Dr. Todd Andrews in Placentia, CA. If you look at his credentials you can see what to look for. He's excellent. He keeps up with the latest training also. Good luck.

@marcyk Hello Marcy
As I see this is just your second post on Connect, I'd like to welcome you out online community! I'm sorry to hear of your chronic pain. Pain can be very tiring can't it? You mentioned knee pain and that your doctor would not operate because of your "history, etc." If you are comfortable sharing more, could you provide some information about your history?
I hope that your physiatrist is able to offer you some help. When will you have that appointment?
It sounds like you had a wonderful career and I look forward to getting to know you better!

Hello @sun2shine
I see that this is your first post on Mayo Connect. I'd like to welcome you to our online support group. Your comment, "Never talked to others like this" is why Connect is here. We all need a place where we can talk openly about our pain. Trying to deal with everything on your own is, just like you said, stressful!
It sounds like a lot of accidents have led to your chronic pain. For those of us who have chronic pain we understand how tiring and relentless it can be. It really is tiring, isn't it?
As this is your first post, please share with us as you are comfortable doing so, what other ways you have approached your pain problem. Outside of surgeries, what exercise, physical therapy or meds have you tried? Also what relaxation techniques have been helpful to you?
I look forward to getting to know you better as you continue to post.

Hello, my name I’d diane. I have had problems with pain for over 30 years. I finally had my leg pain narrowed down to my back. My fibro was diagnosed about 5 years ago. Now I am being treated with fentanyl and Norco. In 2014 I found out I have arachnoiiditis. A very bad thing for me, there is no cure. I realize that there are a lot of fuss about opioids, but without them I don’t believe I would be able to function. Thanks for this site that I may find another soul with my problems!
Hello Diane @carolinapearl53, you might also be interested in another discussion here on Connect in the Brain & Nervous System Group for more information about arachnoiditis. It might be a good place to ask any questions you might have.
I am desperate to find a dr who treats arachnoiditis

A "young" chronic pain sufferer here. I'm 30 but have had pain (most likely) due to a ganglion cyst in my right hand/wrist for the last 2 years. I've had the cyst "popped" once using a needle through ultrasound guidance and it provided relief for a few months but has worsened with time. I have tweaked exercises to reduce pain on it and have cut way down on riding my bicycle though am frustrated that days in which I spend with my 17 month old daughter that I pick her up a lot leave me with throbbing pain for the next few days that gradually gets better. Ibuprofen and Aleve help with the pain but it's something that will only be healed if I surgically get the cyst removed. Has anyone else had surgery to help deal with a pain issue? What finally made you take the surgery plunge?
