New Sleep Medication: Anyone taking Dayvigo (lemborexant)?
Is anyone taking Dayvigo? My psychiastrist is tapering me off valium and has given me Dayvigo instead. I have PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder and been on benzodiazipines for many, many years for anxiety and sleep. The Dayvigo is as addictive as benzos!

I have been seeing a sleep med Dr and a sleep therapist. Tried cognitive behavior therapy which helps with sleep hygiene. After relying on ativan, which my doctor didn’t want me in long term, and trying trazadone, which affected my liver enzymes, I’m currently taking a low dose of mirtazapine and 1 mg melatonin. All my doctors are fine with me being on it long term and has been greatly helping

1 ReactionHave you tried any natural suppressants like magnesium or lemongrass tea? I take zopiclone which I find way too aggressive on my system & gives me the worst quality of sleep. Hope this helps.

1 ReactionWhat is your dose of mirtazapine? I tried 7.5mg one night and slept well but was sleepy and tired for 3 days afterwards, so never took it again. Thanks.

2 ReactionsYes, I take magnesium and have tried various teas meant to promote sleep. Are you still taking zopiclone? I read it's only meant for short-term use. Thanks.

1 ReactionI’m on 7.5 mg. I’m sometimes sleepy but I’ve struggled so much with sleep that I don’t mind the feeling

2 ReactionsI take mirtazapine (7.5mg). To counter the morning grogginess, I take it at 8:30PM for a 10PM bedtime. I get up 3-4 times a night because of nature calls and pain, and it helps with getting back to sleep quickly rather than lying awake.
If you wish to try it again, maybe cut the dosage in half and try taking it earlier in the evening.

3 ReactionsI haven't tried it because the side effects can cause temporary paralysis and nightmares.
I'm currently taking 5mg. It's effective at initiating sleep, but I don't find it as effective at keeping me asleep. I have not experienced some of the side effects like paralysis or vivid dreams; however, I do "test" my legs when getting out of bed to pee, just in case. As I've experienced depression, anxiety, and insomnia for a while; I don't know how much I can expect to have improved sleep with any medication that's OK to take long-term. I've also used Ramelteon which is only similar to Melatonin to me. Good luck!
josephpreid, nobody should have to suffer with insomnia and anxiety and depression when there are meds that will help you. My doctor finally said, "why don't we try 1 medication for both your issues".... I have insomnia and anxiety. So he put me on Lorazepam and I just take it at night for sleep.....but it seems to help the next day with any anxiety I might have. Hardly ever have to take it during the day. And before being prescribed Lorazepam, I was prescribed Diazepam (Valium) as needed for anxiety and also Ambien for sleep. But Ambien did not work good for me. Very happy with the Lorazepam results and the fact that I only take 1 medication for both issues now.
I have been a chronic insomnia for years and tried everything but ambien was the worst. Sleep walking and complete blackouts once I even drove my car and had no idea what happened to me or anyone else. In any case I now take temazepam with trazodone and I get 5-8 hours sleep.
