Anyone using Dupixent for asthma/allergy treatment?
Does anyone have asthma and experience with the monoclonal antibody Dupixent and would share pros and cons?
Thanks!

That is so good to hear, but I’m sorry you’ve had to watch your daughter deal with all this — lucky she has you with all your experience and knowledge on this!
Yikes — I called the pharmacy today and even with my Humana insurance it would be $1,000 a month for two shots !!
Is that the normal amount to have to pay for it?
They said it’s $3,000 without insurance……😫
Check with the company they usually have a subsidy plan. My daughter was paying her Rx max per month of $400 that covers all her drugs. My friend got help and pays under $30p.

Thanks ! — I’ll try contacting them.
I've just started Dupixent and had delays because of the exorbitant cost to Medicare patients. I have MAC and asthma with shortness of breath and cough. I'm also using 2 nose sprays and 2 inhalers. I'm hopeful that the Dupixent is going to help.
At 80y/o I now have escinophilic asthma, pseudomonas, excess mucus, cough, sob, fatigue. In Dec I went to JNH for dx, now on Dupixant( 2 months) and Breo. In Feb i had an infected tooth implant required clindamycin, athromycin, and cipro, implant removal. Cleared the excess mucus and cough. Cpap at night. Less tired, er visit for tooth showed escinophils at 8.5. So do I feel better but unsure of which meditation helped. Also has a IgE, total Serum Result of 278, normal 0 to 100. But the aspergillosis fumigation was negative, perhaps due to exposure or ongoing response to antigen. So no tightness of chest. With asthma do you develop excess mucus or it mucus more associated with a pseudomonas? I have a shaker vest, nebulizer for Albuterol and 3% saline, an Albuterol rescue breather, an aerobika with the attachment to use saline or Albuterol. House decorated in beachy medical. Awaiting my sharps box to be sent from Dupixant my way!
"House decorated in beachy medical" 🤣It sounds like you're also keeping a regular dose of humor in your medicine cabinet.
I'm tagging @sueinmn because I think she may have additional thoughts to your questions.
Call dupixantmyway and there is a program to discount it. Single person with income below $72,000, I think, qualifies for free. No documentation needed.
I am staying on Dupixent. I had Xolair injections for many years. Started Dupixent injections 10/2022. I had a near death virus with asthma attack 2/2023. I have never had an asthma attack that didn’t clear up in a few days. I began my usual Zopinex in nebulizer along with Prednisone 60 mgs for 2 days then 40 mg’s daily for a full 2 weeks. I could not walk therefore too sick to go to be virus tested. This attack left me very week for 45 days. I thought this attack may have been worst than my previous 35 years of attacks because of the antigen inhibitor injection RX change. My asthma specialist said Dupixent helped my lungs whereas Zopinex would not have. I am so very thankful I was using Dupinex!!!
Does the Covid or RVS viruses cause a much worst case of asthma?
You asked, "Does the Covid or RVS viruses cause a much worst case of asthma?" No medical evidence on my part, but two anecdotal cases.
My younger daughter and her kids had one, followed immediately by the other in January. She and her son both suffered a worsening of their asthma at that time. With consistent nebs for 2-3 months, and now twice daily inhaler use, they are much improved.
My older daughter was a very early Covid sufferer (March 2020) and has long Covid still. They have been trying ever since to get her asthma (which has always been difficult) under control. She has progressed from one biologic to another, and has now been switched from Dupixent to another biologic. Along the way, she has been on nearly constant steroids as well as her nebs.
I am asthmatic since I was a child - now just past 60. Was on Xolair (15+ years) until it stopped working. Tried Tespire - and got much sicker. Dupixent has helped - took a few weeks to notice improvement. I am steroid dependent as well. Regarding meds - Brovana (Arformoterol tartrate) is a long acting, 12 hour Albuterol nebulizer 2 x per day. This, along with Budesonide 2 x per day via nebulizer. Both have improved my health. Also on old time medication - Theophylline, have helped. Covid last summer was bad and still having long covid issues. Please check cardiac status - as past COVID has made it more difficult to recuperate from bad asthma issues.
Call Dupixent company - they have a free program, and send sharps container/alcohol wipes with the medication. Good luck and hope the Dupixent is helpful!!
