Grover’s Disease

Posted by sharfar @sharfar, Mar 13, 2022

Hello-I am a 54 year old, active female recently diagnosed with Grover’s Disease. It started shortly after having an MRI. And it started on my neck and went up behind my ear. It is now on my stomach and back and arms. Is there a correlation between the MRI and Grover’s? I’m also a runner but have been running in freezing temperatures, not heat as suggested in much of what I’m reading.
Thanks for any help you may offer including any suggestions on helping to get rid of it.

Had GD for about 6 weeks now. OTC cremes do nothing as Stan 1943 says. Anti-biotics don't seem to help either. Started Cilantro smoothies 2x/day recently. Looking for something, anything to help. Doc's sure don't. Maybe CBD oil? Good luck people of Gosh Darn kingdom!

Hey stan 1943, good advice! I've been using a 2' shower cleaning wand my wife has that has interchangeable heads. Head is 90 degrees to handle, so it works well. I go simply by feel alone, no mirrors needed. I also use a Benadryl spray for itch which I don't need a mirror. I know where it's landing simply by the cold spray on my back. Good luck, (This stuff is CRAP!)

Did your MRI employ a contrast agent such as Gadolinium?

Just an update: Six weeks ago I posted that I had stopped drinking alcohol and had an immediate remission, the first remission in 10 months of having GD. No itching, no rashes, and spots were healing. The remission lasted just four weeks. I'm still not drinking alcohol but GD has come back as strong as ever. As a young person might put it, "Man, this disease is messed up!"

This is my first time posting. I am a 69 year old woman. I have had Grovers Disease for two and a half years. It began a few days after I had my second Moderna vaccine. The rash is on my back only and barely visible. BTW, I had a punch biopsy to confirm that I do, in fact, have Grover’s. My case is different as my skin burns and is hot to the touch. I have seen an excellent dermatologist and neurologist. I have had extensive blood work done and three MRI’s on my back. Bloodwork is good and nothing on the MRI’s. I tried the cilantro smoothies daily for a year to no avail. My pain is the worst late afternoon and into evening. I need to lay on a ColPac mat that I keep in my freezer when I watch TV at night. I have been getting dupixent shots twice a month for three months. I use calcipotriene cream. I have clobetasol spray, however my doctor says it is not good to use often. The calcipotriene cream is the only thing that soothes the pain. My neurologist put me on gambepentin which did nothing, so I stopped. Three weeks ago I had a nerve block and that did not help, but made the burn even worse. If anyone has any suggestions for me, I would appreciate any and all help.

The calcipotriene may cause burning too like steroids do .
I’m doing the cilantro too it takes heavy metals out of your body which may be from the Covid and shingrix vaccines I got. I’ve tried every cream you can imagine. Averno restorative skin therapy body wash and moisturizer help for me
