Any longhaulers noticing vision changes?

I had Covid Christmas 2022- a mild case. Took Paxlovid . About About 6 weeks later, my right eye would water randomly. I had extreme sensitivity to light and some blurry vision. I went to the ophthalmologist. She told me I had uveitis in my right eye- inflammation of the urea. She prescribed steroid eye drops. I have been using those for almost a month. I see the eye dr. every 2 weeks to have the pressure checked. I noticed when driving my distance vision doesn’t seem as good as it was. They checked at my last visit and said there was no change. My eye dr. seems to agree that it could be Covid related. I think they are still discovering all the ways that Covid affects all the body systems.

Hi @walk4life. Your description sounds like so many of us. I was sent to eye doctor after months of saying my vision was everchanging after covid. Just the eye testing brought about different visual issues and other body symptoms that the doctor did not understand and prescribed glasses that may help once in a while but seems this more of central nervous/immune system issues creating too many symptoms at different times for regular fix of glasses etc to work☹️ Everyone hang in there🌈

I also noticed my vision changes. My glasses +2,5 became useless. The most disturbing thing is that I can't focus at any distance. Plus the dizziness becomes worrisome.

Same. Normally up close I wouldn't need my glasses other than for small print but now needing all the time.

Yes, and thats my clue that my Mast Cell Activation Syndrome is acting up and I need to check for a slip up in my diet of eating high histamine foods by mistake. As soon as I return to all low to no, histamine in my diet my vision clears back to very good. …..normal…..so you may want to school yourself on MCAS which is a very real bi product of Covid that many have and don’t know it. The doctor has me on Singular and Pepcid AC every morning to set me in the right direction but I often have to supplement w Benydryl in the day as well. MCAS can also give you heart palpitations…..another reaction to histamine levels that are too high post covid or the covid shots.

I had not heard of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. I am going to research that. I also get a elevated heart rate at times when I am not doing anything strenuous. My uveitis of the spring seems to be recurring. I am out of town so I bought some otc antihistamine drops to use until I can get back to the eye doctor. If it gets worse , I will call and see if they can prescribe anything while I am out of state.

I had cataract surgery in both eyes last May and my vision was excellent. A year later I’m having trouble seeing again. Follow up visit indicated my vision should be great and it’s not. I’m also experiencing Covid rash since February so I know my histamine response is in overdrive. But didn’t realize vision can also be affected by this. Don’t think many docs do either.

No they don’t!……but if your histamine levels clear, your eyesight does. I had exactly same surgery as you and lens put in….right now I am having a flare and my eyesight is blurry and double. . It’s a viscous cycle and headache……literally…..I can tolerate XOCHITL blue corn chips and am massively overeating them as my only tolerable carb. Other than Quaker rice cakes . It’s a whole new world!!! Oh….and hot sun or cold weather both make Mast Cell worse!!!

Yes I did notice hot sun on my skin makes the rash flare. These posts have been an eye opener for me. No pun intended!

Learn to wear hats w brims all round! It cuts all glare back to the eyes and reduces strain ! Also use red glass sunglasses as it reduces all glare and you see more clearly! Serengeti are wonderful!
