Any longhaulers noticing vision changes?
Has anyone noticed vision changes who are long haulers ? I have astigmatism and have worn contacts for probably 25 years, however I was just beginnig to need a weak OTC reading lense to read, I was 48 at the time I had covid. In OTC readers I wore a +1.50 my eye doctor had told me not to buy anything stronger than a +1.75 until I seen him again the following year. About 6 months after having covid in a period of about 2 months my reading vision began rapidly deteriorating. I had to buy a +2.75 ! I went to my eye doctor and began explaining to him what happened & the first thing he asked me was if I'd had covid & if I was sick longer than a couple of weeks (I will sick for 4 months). He said it had happened with other patients. He dialated my eyes & checked them out & said he couldn't see any damage to my eyes. However, now it seems as if my fat away vision isn't exactly as it should be. It's only been 4 months since I went to the eye doctor but I'm thinking I may have to go back before April of 2023 for my next visit.
Has anyone else had this happen to them & if so what were you told by your doctor? This is just one of the slew of problems I have from covid. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance and God bless us all and may we all get thru this together.

Mine blur off and on, I have trouble going from one light source to another, they water, etc. My vision is definitely off yet nothing shows up on tests. I worry about macular degeneration as well as several senior family members had it, but I was told what’s going on isn’t that.
Yes, it is so frustrating when you know there is something going on with your body and the tests all come back “normal”.
My partner had 3rd nerve palsy & after 6 months his eye opened but he saw double vision. He had to have prisms added to his glasses prescription.
That’s incredible you describe what I have experienced with my post covid syndrome. I wasn’t sure if covid caused it because I already had dry eye and a condition called Salzmann’s nodules. So, I already had a cornea specialist. I saw her today and explained about the film over my eyes. I thought it was one of my meds. I will see my retina specialist next month.
Three months ago I got new glasses using the prescription from February 2024. I have been back more than 10 times trying to get them right, I could not find the right spot to look through for reading and driving. I got a different pair a week ago, and I still was having trouble seeing clear and crisply. The checked the lenses, they were made correctly for the prescription. On the off chance the doctor had an opening while I was there and we did another exam. There has been a significant change in my vision needs from February to November! Significant enough that the February prescription was WAY different & I ordered yet another pair. The doctor told me she is seeing patients with prescription changes with Long Covid and referred me to a retina specialist. I am 4 years with Long Covid (11/19/2020, before vaccines) and new things are still coming up. I thought I was done adjusting my life to my Long Covid symptoms but I guess not!
I have one eye that gets blurrier when I'm not feeling well - LC is an up and down thing for me. Eye doctor found no issues.
It is so interesting to read these responses. I, too, started having trouble seeing clearly after Covid. It often feels (yes - it is a feeling) like my glasses were dirty, or that I have a film over my eyes. I spoke to my eye doctor about it and he did a full eye and retinal exam - found nothing at all. I asked him if he was aware of eye problems relating to Long Covid, and he responded with a blank look.
