Slow degradation of my vision. Seeing a retina specialist
After a slow degradation of my vision, especially close as in computer usage, saw optician and after eye exam, received new lenses. Not much improvement, so I scheduled appointment with an ophthalmologist, who diagnosed very dry eyes, but with bleeding behind the retina in my left eye. Referred me to a retina specialist whom I see tomorrow. Any ideas what could be causing this other than retina detachment? About two years ago, had laser treatment for floaters. Wonder if this is related to that procedure. Can this also be related to a vascular problem? Thanks!

Hi Teresa @hopeful33250 Good to hear from you. Yes, things have been busy and consists mostly of dr visits and labs, etc. Began Stelara but after several months, discontinued as it didn't seem to be effective.
Thanks for remembering my brother's passing. That was a difficult time and then the holidays without him. During Hurricane Irma I almost called him to let him know I was okay.
Ma having cataract surgery on my left eye next week. Not sure how long it will be before the right eye is done. Then will have reading glasses made. Always something but glad I'm as well as I am. Worst problem now is the impact of having had gallbladder removed at the time of the last resection.
How are things going with you? I should have kept in touch more frequently. Thanks again! Bonnie.
@bonitav Nice to hear from you Bonnie!
I'm glad that everything is going well for you. Cataract surgery is a pretty easy procedure these days. I had my right eye done first and my left eye done a couple of years ago. It really makes a difference. You will be glad that you had it done.
Everything is going pretty well for me. I got through an endoscopy last year with no new carcinoid cancer showing up. I'm due for another endoscopy sometime this year. I also had a MRI to look for any changes in the pancreatic cysts, and everything looked about the same. There is a lesion on the liver, but it has not changed over the past several years, so it is considered indolent (or benign), which is all good news in my opinion! I've had some heart valve problems and one doctor thinks I'll need a valve replacement in a year or so, but another doctor is not so sure about that, so I guess I'll keep my original equipment for a while 🙂
I'm sure that you missed your brother's presence during the holidays - he will undoubtedly always be close to you in your heart.
I hope that you have a wonderful new year.
Teresa
@bonitav, My ophthalmologist is watching/monitoring me for cataract surgery at some future time. I am scheduled for 6 month appointments with him, so I feel comfortable that I am in good care. I will be thinking of you next week when you have your cataract procedure. I am due a retina visit next week, and I am hopeful that my most recent 3 injection series does not need to be repeated. Blessings for the New Year.

Hi Rosemary @rosemarya Glad you have a caring opthamologist who is monitoring you. I also hope you don't need more of the injections. I keep hoping I can avoid those in the future. Will let you know how the cataract surgery goes. Most people I've spoken with about this procedure are very positive. I know I'll be there a while but the procedure itself doesn't take long. Have a good New Year! Bonnie.
@bonitav
Wishing you well! Will you post and let us know how the cataract surgery goes for you?
Teresa
Thanks Teresa, I'll be in touch as soon as I can get glasses adjusted or ?? 🙂
@bonitav Bonnie: Sounds good. (You will probably get a prescription for new lenses after you recover from the surgery.)
We will look forward to hearing from you.
Teresa
@rosemarya, The injections aren't that bad at all. They use drops to numb your eye. The part I don't like is of they dilate your eyes!
So I have to make a real difficult decision: early morning when it is not crowded/short wait, and have dilated eyes all day? or Late appointment when there is a long wait, but I can just go home and be lazy afterwards.

Diabetic problems?
I had similar symptoms retina specialist diagnosis was macular degeneration.
