Seizures/how to dose CBD/medical marijuana
Hi. My son has cerebral palsy, autism, and recently developed seizures. His neurologist increased his lamotrigine but wants him to start cbd/medical marijuana. I had an appt to get his medical marijuana card but cancelled because they told me the doctor only approves the card and does not go over dosing. He is 23, 190lbs. We are in the process of weaning him off his Buspar (he took 45mg twice a day) and he's down to 15mg once daily for this week and then we stop. I did try a CBD gummy a while back (5mg) but I think it was too much on top of the Buspar and Abilify he takes. How do I know what dose to try and do I try just CBD or THC or both?

Hi Everybody!
Hope this message finds you all well!
Yesterday, I had an appointment with my epileptologist, asking him why he does not prescribe THC for his patients with epilepsy. He has explained that studies on medical cannabis started in the seventies. At that time, studies have shown that THC had convulsive effects, a belief still in force. The studies that have been performed thereafter were mainly on pure CBD, showing that this cannabinoid is secure for epilepsy treatment. However, there is still a need for more studies on THC to prove it is secure as well.
Wishing you all a nice weekend!

Epidiolex is CBD and is not psychoactive. The pharmaceutical med isn't cleaned with chemicals. I'm the dispensary they are. I have my medical card. It's is much safer than meds. I would talk to another doctor. I think it is the last one on the list to try. I'm not sure. But, I just was put on it so I'll let you know how it works for me. I would rather have child or myself on Epidiolex instead of the man made chemicals they have me on. Hope this works and I hope it helps. I do honestly think it's an insurance issue. Makes me angry. They did have to call for prior approval. I would ask the doc and then if your questions aren't answered or you feel uncomfortable see someone else. That's not right that you aren't listened to.
Hi @nicole4success!
Wishing that Epidiolex works well for you. I do take pure CBD (200 mg) since 2021, after having tried 5 different AEDs. I feel much better and back in control of my life. I do hope you have a good experience with this treatment. If you have any questions regarding the CBD treatment, feel free to contact me.
My best wishes to you!

Santosha- What kind of CBD do you take? Is that 200mg per day?
Hi @abcla1315, Good Morning
I take 100% CBD 200 mg, it is from FarmaUSA, a Brazilian company that produces CBD in the States. How strange, you might ask yourself! A few years ago, it was still forbidden to produce medical cannabis in Brazil, but last year it was finally authorized :-). But this med over here costs more than the imported one from FarmaUSA. This is why I still buy it from FarmaUSA.
