Saline nebulized inhalation

Rx’d. 0.9%,3 mL. If three is good might five be even “gooder?” I can get it in 5 mL doses. Any reason not to go for it?

Hi Cindy, what is the name of the green machine? I just messaged my MD to ask for a newer model or one that connects with the Aerobika. Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure that 1-12 minute time is with what I call the "Big Green Machine" - the Pari Vios - it's a noisy beastie, but reliable and effective. Pretty much the only one Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance pays for - under $50 at Walgreens and from most Med suppliers. I still keep mine as my backup - have gone through 4-5 smaller, handier ones in lest time than one of these guys lasts. There's a good reason why they use it in clinics and Urgent Care settings.

Thank you. My case as a Workers Comp and they may reimburse me. Do you have any recommendations and one you can recommend not as noisy and cuts down on time?

Philips Innospire Go is my all-time favorite. It has been on back-order for several months, but well worth waiting for if you have something to use for now.

Here is a long discussion about travel nebulizers - you can find some other recommendations there.

Yes, Sue’s suggestion of the Pari Vios “green machine” has been really worth it . My insurance (blue cross) did not cover. But well worth it.

Actually saline comes at least as high as 10%. My pulmo nurse used it to force me to cough up sputum when I had a dry cough. The downside was I felt "a-salted" for at least a day. We tried 3% but it wasn't enough to make my cough productive. But I do ok with 7% and it brings up lots of gunk some days.

@thumperguy, The study that I read (which was shared here on this forum a long time ago) showed that at 7% was when MAC pulled back. It hung around up until the 7% solution was introduced. I've been using 7% for probably two years and have been testing negative for MAC. And my little neb is 3ml. Nan

Once a day, 4-5 times a week. I up this to daily if I get any kind of congestion, virus, etc. And twice a day during an exacerbation. This "slacker" schedule came about after my last pulmo visit, where my lungs looked their best in 5 years, with the consent of my doc. It also coincided with a change in my asthma meds that reduced those symptoms to almost nothing.

Could you please explain to me what an exacerbation is? I’m not sure.

Sue could you please explain to me why the mucus is formed in there and you have to clear it out every day? Does the bacteria cause the mucus to produce?
It’s a good thing when the mucus comes up when you nebulize and use the flutter… Correct? But then it kind of replenishes and you have to do it again the next day and the next day ad infinitum?
