Macular pucker after cataract surgery

Hi @peach414144, my mom just had cataract surgery. Like you, she was told to call if she had any concerns. Your worsening symptoms are definitely worth calling your surgeon about, right away. There may be a simple reason or perhaps there is an underlying eye issue causing problems. You should find out. Please call your doctor and let us know what you find out.

Presuming this is something you are experiencing personally or affecting someone close to you, I'm wondering if you could share more about the macular pucker? Is is causing blurry or distorted vision?

Hello Colleen. Peach here: The doctor will not address anything but his diagnosis of gloucoma.. Whenever I try to he cuts me off. Oh, but I do remember the last time I saw him I asked why can we not replace the interocular lens that started this problem and he said that the risk of going blind is very high. I have obtained copies of my three visits to him and am prepared to fax them to Mayo. But without a diagnosis that would require surgery Mayo cannot help. Am sorry to say the doctors in my area do not have the experience , (As wrong as I may be.) Originally when this problem started the docrors told me I have macular degeneration, then they added gloucoma to it. Now they have taken away macular and I have sever dry eyes with glocoma. I was 20/20 with no clouds or loss of vision and no pain until Dr. Hunt removed the so called cataract. Right away, as soon as the bandages were removed. I am not looking to sue anyone I just want to be able to see. Hopefully this can be. Stressed, anxieties, but hopefully holding on. And realizing that perhaps
nothing can be done.. Must learn to live in a darker world but will continue to caress my pets. Oh, by the way my other eye has been mostly blind 20/300 since birth so this is why I am so concerned about this eye. Love to all Peach

Sorry to come out of the blue with this but: I contracted septicemia after having three stents placed in the iliac veins. wound up in the hospital for five days receiving intravenous antibiotics and then sent home. I think there should be some kind of aftercare but there was none. Now I feel like it might have come back so I will go to the E.R. in the morning, Why has there not been a better way to complete the care? This is deadly. No one seems to care or know what to do.

My husband just had cataract surgery in his right eye on June 30 2021. His eye is still blurry and red. Called his dr and he said he has a pucker in the macula and to decrease two of his eye drops from 3 drops to 1. They are neo-poly-dex and ketorolac 3 x a day for pharma. The pharma will decrease over the next two weeks until we hit 0. Dr was not sure if maybe allergic to first two drops or if it is the muclar. Will his eyesight improve. Very nerve wracking. Cancelled his second cataract surgery. Dr said cataract was big that he removed.

Hello @norma1, Welcome to Connect. I just had cataract surgery on both eyes last year and was fortunate it went well. I can relate to your worry and questions. One thing that has helped me with other issues is learning as much as I can about the condition and then becoming a better advocate for my own health when working with my doctors.
