Tricuspid and Mitral Valve Regurgitation

Hello,

I was recently diagnosed with "mild" tricuspid and mitral valve regurgitation. I am awaiting feedback from my cardiologist and am worried about my future :(.

Is there anyone out there who can reassure me? I am only 51 and am not overweight, and have low cholesterol.

I am 78 years old. A friend of mine is 76 years old. Both of us recently had mitral valve repair rather than replacement and my friend also had tricuspid valve repair. In addition we had ablations for afib and LAACs. Both of us are doing fine. Hope this helps. The surgeon was Dr. Boulton at WakeMed in Raleigh. He's terrific.

Did you feel better right after it?

Even though I had minimally invasive surgery for my repair it is minimally invasive as compared to open heart surgery. There was obvious healing pain for a couple of months but it was nothing that I couldn't handle without the use of opioids. I even rarely took Tylenol for pain killing but I realize that all of us have different pain thresholds. After about the 4th or 5th month or so of my operation I wore a heart monitor for 30 days and results showed that I had no more afib. As a result my cardiologist took me off of Eliquis which I have been off of now for several months. I should mention that my regurgitation which was severe was cured immediately by my operation. I still have no AFib and I'm able to do pretty much anything.
