Premarin for older women

I too am experiencing same problem in purchasing Premarin which is costing me over $300 for 90 day supply. I have been trying to locate a Canada pharmacy that accepts credit cards. Does anyone in this group use a Canadian pharmacy and if so is it permissible to share the name of the pharmacy. I have been on Premarin since I was 27 and take it for several health issues.

Just this past two months I weaned myself off Premarin that I have been taking for 35 years. Suddenly I started having menopause symptoms, Hot flashes and insomnia are the worse.
I just started to reinstate Premarin into my system. It has been 5 days with no change yet.

premarin has in the last few years jump in $ no matter why or
whatkind one takes no help with farmisey name just crazy why the cost has

I have been using Premarin 0.03 mg since my 40's. I will be 80 within 2 weeks. Any time I have gone off, I get hot flashes & pain from arthritis. I was told in my 40's that after 4 back surgeries where there was a problem growing bone for my bone graft (in those days they did not use screws). I was told that the Premarin would definitely help with the arthritic pain & also help the bone graft grow for my back. I have had doctors tell me to get off of it & others that I would need it, but the chronic pain always got worse, especially the arthritis pain.

After developing breast cancer after 20+ yrs of 'watchful waiting' from developing LCIS (at the time they said 'bilateral mastectomy') in 2008 DCIS, I decided I could no longer do the 'watchful waiting' & had the bilateral mastectomy.

In 1971 after my 4th child was born, I had my tubes tied & a couple of years later I had my uterus removed due to heavy bleeding with my periods. Then the HOT FLASHES began. There were times I thought I would pass out.

I also use Premarin cream due to bladder leakage. I am no longer arguing with my doctors about this...I feel comfortable with my decision since I no longer have any female organs left.

Big Mountain Drugs in British Columbia is where I am getting my prescription filled. My VT PCP sent them a presctiption by fax. Very nice folks there..I got 84 .3 premarin for around $200.

Did the premarin finally kick in? How are you feeling now?

@lueeze, @susaninvt, and all....Your recent comments just popped out at me on the notifications as I read about your Premarin experiences. I had a tough time during menopause years ago and had a monthly shot of estrogen meds that kept from going through my stomach and digestive tract and gave me wonderful relief for years. During the loud conversations about the evils of estrogen replacement, I finally stopped the shots and began using an over-the-counter Estroven. This was helpful as I was at the end of what I thought was my menopause journey, but not as good as the shots.

I continue having night sweats, some hot flashes, and other issues to this day and I'll be 76 in February. I have multiple illnesses to which I attributed these symptoms, but after a good friend just restarted estrogen replacement at age 80 for these issues and is having excellent results, I'm discussing this with my doctor asap. I think it's time for me to restart this medication. And, definitely for my quality of living.
