Where can I find MCI On-line/Zoom support groups for caregivers?
Hi. Along with my sister, I'm caretaking my mom. She was diagnosed with MCI about four months ago and her memory/ability to think logically seems to be getting worse almost daily.
I would like to find a support group for caregivers of family members with dementia and wonder if anyone on this site knows of such a group. I haven't had luck finding something on line.

I know that in NYS, the Alzheimers’ Association has zoom support groups. It was via zoom during COVID..not sure if they meet in person now. They did a few minutes with both caregiver and patient, then broke into separate groups. It was helpful to me, but my husband was so bothered by what he saw as his future, we discontinued it. You might try your state/local Alzheimers’ organization. If there is not already a group, perhaps they would be open to starting one. Goodness knows, there is so much need! Best wishes!

3 ReactionsThe Mayo Clinic has a program called HABIT. it may be more than you wanted and is available only a couple times a year and 10 days long. I have felt your frustration, and found value in the Mayo MCI Support Group. People genuinely share authentic vulnerabilities and receive counsel from folks in similar circumstances.

3 ReactionsOne possibility is to see if your community has a state agency called something like Aging and Long Term Care. They would be very knowledgeable about what local resources are available and probably would know what support groups were available. Also, it's possible that your local hospital would have a resource center that might know. Look for any Alzheimer's Association classes in the community. They might also have some useful information for you.

3 ReactionsOur local Area Agency on Aging provides a zoom support group that is SO helpful! I encourage you to check with your county. Ours has many resources available. Sometimes we learn far more from each other than from the medical specialists.

3 ReactionsMy spouse and I recently went through the HABIT program and it was excellent. However, they told us about a monthly Zoom “alumni” meeting but didn’t provide a login for it, and my email inquiring about it wasn’t answered. Can you point me toward that information? Thanks!
Mayo clinic has local meetings that are also remotely. They are called "caring for the caregiver" and are held on Thursdays. I noted the following message - - hope this is helpful. Lee

This group is for caregivers, so we respectfully ask that patients not attend. All caregivers are welcome.

I would like to know about this also.
We attended the HABIT program virtually, out of Arizona. Our cohort group was
January 2022.
It would be WONDERFUL to be part of a HABIT Alumni group.
We have not heard anything about this.
