Blood clot in heart

i have been on clopidogerel and aspirin almost since 2014...doctors told me that i should be taking them for the rest of my life...i have two stents too...blood needs tobe thinned and i suppose one has to move onto warfarin and heparin eventually...echos are usually done by technicians and angiographies usually have doctors present...

@predictable- Martin, so good to hear from you and thank you for sharing your experience with Coumadin.
Just for my clarity sake did you say that your blood coagulation dropped because your medical team asked you to skip your daily dose for two days and that is when you had a TIA?
I'm currently not experiencing any A-Fib and I will know this Thursday if my INR falls in the range we've been trying to find for over a month.

Hi, Jim (@thankful). To answer your question, you understood my story correctly (except that I suffered a small stroke, not a transient ischemic attack (TIA) which would involve a shortage of blood, not a blood clot as I suffered). The clot formed when we interrupted my anticoagulation medication for two days because my INR had risen to over 5 for unexplained reasons. Ordinarily, my INR holds in the 2.1-2.6 range. Let us know how your INR is checking out and whether we can share more experiences that may be helpful. Martin

I have a blood clot in my heart too. I am waiting for my second Ablation to get out of Afib. I remain in Afib,on meds,am exhausted,short of breath,and want my life back.I am surprised your clot did not dissolve. I am worried now. Any thoughts? Thanks, Afibjan

I have a a LAA blood clot discovered when aTEE was done before I was to have my 2nd ablation! I was told that I was not taking XARELTO with my dinner meal food and this was most likely the cause. Now I take 81mg asprin and my dinner time Xarelto. I have had a difficult year remaining in AFIB much of the time. I am very fatigued,short of breath with it. Now I am waiting for a cardioversion to attempt to get me in normal rhythm and add an anti rhythmic. To hold me until april! My hospital is booked out that far. I am very discouraged. Any advive?

Does anyone know what Anteroseptal infarct is now present means?

I was diagnosed as having a blood clot and/or vegetation and the end of my ventricular pacemaker lead. I just finished 10 weeks of IV antibiotics and have been told the next step is to remove the entire unit and have a temporary pacemaker on the outside of my neck for six weeks then put permanent back in. I have congenital heart disease and the anatomy of my heart is far from normal. It was a challenge to get the leads in the first time and they are nervous about doing it again. They even mentioned leaving the unit in. Does that happen often? Especially since they are not 100% sure if it’s a clot or an infection.

Hi! I was diagnosed with a heart blood clot. I was put on Warfarin and was on it for 5 months. MRI showed that clot had dissolved. I do not take warfarin any longer, but have to take aspirin to keep blood clot from reforming. I have Dilated Cardiomyopathy that progressed to Congestive Heat Failure with a reduced ejection fraction. That will never change, and will get worse over time. I will be taking some form of blood thinners the rest of my life. There are several Anticoagulants and Warfarin is one. Ask your doctor to switch you to one that doesn’t need constant monitoring and major food restrictions. I couldn’t deal with the food restrictions. I love greens. Hope this helps! 🙂

@susangaylor - Thank you Susan for your insights! I get another ECHO on the 30th of this month. We will see what if anything is there.
My question is other than the fact that I developed a clot 8 years after my HA and stent placement in my 100% blocked LAD. With no other signs or symptoms does one say that because a clot did develope that I will always be prone to another clot and therefore should go on Warfarin or Xarelto for the rest of my life? My local Cardiologist says yes and I have an appt. with my AZ Cardiologist on 12/12. I will have the results of this upcoming ECHO and that will inform all of us as to my situation.
Last January after having an ECHO in AZ and finding nothing my Cardiologist told me it is always far better to have a heart MRI. I did a month & a half later and there was no sign of a clot. He considers that to be the gold standard! I guess we will see how this plays out.

Hello! I am so happy to hear your clot is gone. They are deadly. You should ask your Cardiologist about taking low dose aspirin daily if you do not have stomach issues. Far less expensive. If your Cardiologist says you need anticoagulation medication, I would definitely listen. Better to be safe than sorry for sure. Hope you had a very nice Thanksgiving!
