Evusheld Update

Thanks everyone on here for info on Evusheld and sharing experiences with the AstraZeneca monoclonal antibodies injections. I was listed on the University of Wisconsin Transplant list lottery, but used the website https://covidsafe.fyi/evusheld/ to check on my county, Door, to see that we didn't have any doses. Contacted them and they ordered some. Yesterday I got the two injections and have had no reactions. Just to share with others who are wondering about Evusheld. About price. My Medicare Advantage insurer checked and it was $0.50 out of pocket. Probably because the Feds bought 1.7 million doses and must be subsidizing. Hope this is helpful.

I received my 1st dose of Evusheld in May while I was in Rochester for my annual evaluation at Mayo. This week I received a notification that I am due and eligible for the 6 month dose. I will not be in or even near Rochester and i need to get it locally. I have contacted my PCP about it and I am confident that he will take care of it for me.
In the meantime, What is your experience with getting Evusheld locally? Was it arranged through your PCP? Will I need to provide any request or eligibility from my transplant team?

NOTE: Nurse just responded and he has not located anyplace locally and I am being directed to call the Cancer Center 40 miles away. Wish me luck!

Frustration!!!
So far 8 phone calls/transfers, 1 hold, and now waiting for response to "Not available, Leave a phone number and we'll return your call."

Was anyone able to get Evusheld in a state where you didn't have your transplant?

Good luck, Rosemary. Ironically, I was just on the Rob Relyea website https://covidsafe.fyi/evusheld/ which he created earlier because he and his wife had similar difficulties. There is a Geekwire story on Relyea and Atlantic magazine write up on the challenge for immunocompromised people.

So. I got my first shot in August after I contacted our hospital's president, whom I'd worked with on some workshops on Medicare, and asked why no Evusheld. They got on it, ordered some, and I got the shots. This morning when I went back. My county was not on the list. Go figure. My transplant center in Madison had a lottery for their shots. That's why I wanted to get it locally here. I'm due for the 2nd series in March. I guess the Feds only bought so much of this from Astra Z. Maybe they are running out. Anyway. People can check this website for updates on where they can find Evusheld. You'd think AZ would provide this kind of service.

My husband's transplant team is in Portland [OR]. They advised him last week to get Evusheld. I used the website you referenced and have found two possible locations closer to us for him to research and get his first dose. Thank you for the information!

I got some good news Friday afternoon! I got the anticipated return call! All I have to do now is get my doctor to submit a request form with my patient demographics and then, if approved, the infusion center will schedule an appointment. 🤞
I will be contacting my PCP tomorrow, to ask if he will do the request. I don't know if he will want/need information from my transplant team.

@joko, I am going to check out the site later today! One interesting thing that I have experienced is that evusheld is in stock closer to me (45 miles) but only for their patients. I'm in Kentucky. If I'm approved, I'm going to drive 86 miles to get it. However, it sure beats 750 miles to Rochester!

I'll post more when I know more.

@rosemarya Bill's transplant center is 4 hours each way from us. The two places I found close by are about 30 miles each way! One is a pharmacy, one is a cancer center associated with a major hospital in the next county below us.

The website @joko posted is no doubt helping a lot of us!

You're right! anything is closer than 750 miles to Rochester!

I am a kidey transplant recipient of 41 years from a living donor (father).! I just had my Evushield injections at the Mayo Clinic Rochester last week. Had no side affect! All my Covid immunizations and boosters gave me positive results from Covid antibody blood tests. I feel really fortunate. Hoping 2023 I can let my guard down to covid!!!

My local clinic would not give me the Evushield. They say government has tight controls on who gets it. Mayo Rochester finally said I could get it there. I am only 70 miles so I got it in the morning and was back home by lunch.

Time for an update to my attempt to get the 2nd dose of Evusheld. I'm still waiting!

I got a response from my PCP office on Nov 18 telling me that the request was sent to infusion center - and received by them! so following my earlier instructions from infusion center, I decided to with 3-4 days before calling them. With the Thanksgiving holiday, I waited until today, Nov. 28.
Guess what!?! they do not see it in their entries.
So - today, I have requested for the PCP nurse to call me so I can be sure of correct address - and to resend it. My patience is running on LOW. The infusion center will call me as soon as they get it, or let me know by 8 PM if they don't get the faxed request. 🤞

@guidant07, @joko, @scottij, @hello1234 , @gingerw - I don't know of anyone else is in a similar situation. I really am taking in all of the positive vibes that you have recently shared in this conversation.
