Has anyone experienced internal vibrations?

Posted by redladyjoni @redladyjoni, Nov 26, 2018

I started having the only way I can explain it is internal vibrations. I've had them for 3 months now, I went to t hihe ER and they told me it was anxiety. A doctor diagnosed me at a clinic as having Lyme disease I've started a 21-day prescription of Doxycycline I'm on day 7. I went to a psychiatrist a week ago to get something because of my nerves are just over the brink. He prescribed me Gabapentin and Valium I've only been on them a few days.
Has anyone experienced these internal vibrations?I have them almost 24/7 chest neck stomach from the hips down. I have more lab tests that should be in today, but the doctor's office said that they would not call unless there was some abnormality in the lab work.

I’m so sorry this is happening. Have you tried propranolol?

Hi there @rajiv33. I like your positive attitude and awareness of self management in trying to find triggers. Good for you for being your best advocate!

Regarding your doctor's statement, " Mr seulal we have run extensive test and it does not point to css". While I am not a doctor, I know that there are no tests that prove CSS. CSS is diagnosed by process of elimination and the ruling out of other test proving diagnoses.

When the body continues to respond and react in a hypersensitive way, after any acute issue has healed and over 3 months, it's usually considered chronic. From what I understand there are many reasons why the body may experience vibrations, tremors, spasms, etc. and diagnostic testing is imperative.

The importance of understanding CSS, is for when (or if) the time comes where those plethora of other diagnoses have been ruled out and you hit a dead end. The scientific explanation of central sensitization may bring some sort of semblance to the otherwise unknown.

Many doctors are simply not aware or educated on CSS mainly because they have their specialty lane to follow in their field of medicine. That may consist of helping or fixing by surgery, procedure, medication, injection, etc. Once upregulation of the central and peripheral sensory input nervous systems occur, medical treatments typically have shorter lasting effects or don't help at all.

In any event, no, CSS is not always the answer for vibrations and tremors, but it just may end up being the culprit when everything else is off the table. I always feel that knowledge is power. Keep the info in your back pocket so you can stay on top of your game while self-advocating along your journey.

Good luck with your experimenting. I hope you narrow down triggers and find ways to help control your symptoms. 💪 Positivity and hope are your friends. Keep your chin up!

Hello, I am new to the group. I really appreciate reading the various stories about the development of the internal tremors and what works and doesn’t work. So, thank you for sharing. My story is that I am 69 years old. My internal tremors began four years ago. They were accompanied by tinnitus. The tinnitus sound was similar to holding a conch shell to my ear and hearing that type of noise. So, it wasn’t terribly unpleasant but was annoying. Initially my internal tremors were mild. I had just worked hard on getting my house ready to put on the real estate market. I thought I was just overly tired, etc. Four years later, they have not only continued but progressed. I have them from my head to my toes. They occur all day and everyday. They are not noticeable to others. My muscles on the top of my thighs frequently ache. I can feel a hard lump in my leg. I have also frequently had muscle cramps but mostly on my left leg. Interestingly, all my significant medical conditions occur on my left side (DVT, CVST, Dural Arteriovenous Fistual, pulmonary embolism, lung nodules). My blood tests have come back normal. My EMG was normal. My movement disorder doctor stated there was nothing else they could do and did not have a plan to assist me other than to say if I develop new symptoms to give her a call. One of the neurologists that I saw yelled at me and stated that because I was a mental health therapist I should be able to figure out what the stressor is and manage it. He was sure it was anxiety. There is nothing I find to be more of an indicator of incompetence than when a doctor, therapist, etc, takes one symptoms and leaps to a conclusion. I confidently told him my internal tremors were not caused by stress/anxiety. He stated I didn’t need to see him again but to call him if my symptoms change. I told him I concurred about not seeing him again but would not be calling him if my symptoms changed!

I feel so bad for you that you were scolded. It is hard enough to cope with the symptoms, adding blame doesn’t help.
I am 75. I have Crohns as well as P.OT.S. Sometimes it is hard to know what is influencing what.
This discussion on Vitamins is very interesting. Because I have had a portion of my small intestine removed due to Crohns, the portion responsible for absorption of nutrients, I am on quite a few supplements. Doctor prescribed Vitamin D and had to increase the dosage in order to make up for insufficiency. I will see at next visit whether the increase did the job. Perhaps that is the cause of my inner tremors. Hopefully it will be that simple, nothing else is😊.
The tremors I feel are similar to the way you feel when you feel like your heart is racing, but your pulse rate is not elevated. It is a interior feeling with no external symptoms. It woke me up. It’s located in the chest cavity mostly, but extends out a bit. It is hard to explain. But it’s like a quivering. It’s a new symptom. Don’t know if it will persist or increase.
Has anyone else had this experience?

I'm alittle annoyed because I went into the doctor for stiffness in the left side of my neck, lump in my throat and my anxiety. Walked out with a muscle relaxer and paxil. A few days later had to make a trip to the er cuz I was feeling very wierd I was already vibrating and the tightness on my neck was bothering me. Left the er with Lymphadenitis and fluid in my ears. Took antibiotics for that and finished them that's completely better but still have the vibrating. I went back to the doctor and explained that I still had vibrating and I had tightness around my head almost like a band around my head. She gave me topamax. She explain while at the er my ct scan and blood work came back normal so she says it's side effects from the paxil, another week later and still have the vibrating and the pressure. Hasn't gotten worse nor better. Noticed warm compresses sometimes help and sometimes cold helps and then sometimes neither helps. I'm upset cuz I didn't have this when I went in the first time I want to feel like myself again

@ahannah2021 Im having the exact same issue. Have your vibrations gone away? If so, how long did it take? Ever since I got on Paxil. Crazy intense head and face pain. Headaches. Migraines. Vertigo. Dizziness. Confusion. And then my chest and heart always feel like they’re vibrating. I stopped it about 3 1/2 months ago but still going on

@maelias1656 hello, I’m sorry ur having to deal with this. Hopefully this helps, my tremors and pain finally did go away but it took about 4 months, unfortunately. I had seen an eye doctor for the pain in my eyes but I was told it cause really bad dry eyes and had meds for that. The only thing that does suck is if I’m asleep and someone wakes me up or I get scared I will feel tremors but it’s very light and it fades within a few mins. I will nvr take those meds again. I hope this helps u and keep pushing forward, u won’t b the same person after but I’ll have some type of feeling normal again I wish u luck

Yes, they can be caused from menopause and neurological issues. I have spinal cord damage and I'm menopausal and no doctor for over a year knew what I was talking about when I said that I felt like a had a bees nest in my body vibrating. Finally a neuro did and I was so relieved. He has me on Gabapentin and it is helping a lot. I still get it from extreme heat/cold and if I get very anxious and if I have caffeine or if you drink.
I'm having it today... all day and nothing is helping. If I go for a walk it helps some times...guess I'm going for a walk.
Good luck, I hope you got help.

Hi I'm a 46 year old woman diagnosed first with peripheal neuropathy from an EMG 5 years ago when my thumb would stop shaking and my hands were burning. Since then the burning and numbness can be felt across the tops of my shoulders, my forearms and my calves. I get a tight feeling around my calves and if I'm wearing pants 10x too small. He put me on tegretol. I then got a few headaches a few dizzy spells and now nystagmus. MRI showed Hypersensitivity spots in the brain but said he ruled out MS. Next he said BPPV I went to physical therapist they didn't see BPPV. Next I got internal vibrations. I had a massive panic attack and 2 days later they appeared. My insides shake. It affects my calves my arms, chest and head. These vibrations are mainly when I wake up every morning or they wake me up during the night. The only ones I feel when resting awake are in my calves. I have asked my neuro is it MS is it Parkingsons he just says you don't have MS or Parkingsons right now. ...its small nerve fiber neuropathy office diagnosed I never had a punch biopsy as he said they are 50/50 for results.
He claims It's Peripheal neuropathy and small nerve fiber neuropathy Does anyone else have these same symptoms what was your diagnosis??

I've recently been diagnosed with HSD and Fibromyalgia. I'm unsure what causes it but the only way I've been able to describe it is that my body feels like one of the hula girls on someone's dashboard. It comes and goes. When it subsidies I'm left with this tingly feeling all throughout my body. I find that when I'm in a heated pool that my body starts feeling normal again. Breathing, meditation, exercise/stretching also helps. I'm not sure but I think it has alot to do with the CNS and the ANS going haywire.
