Low-grade fevers weeks after COVID: Is this common with long COVID?

Wow! I, too, have this low grade fever of 99. I contracted Covid on 6/8/2022. On one day my fever reached 103.4, but eventually returned to the "normal" of 98.6 However, my normal temperature was never 98.6. Ever since having Covid, I spike these 99 degree fevers, but never as much as 100 degrees.
I have tried to research this, and it does not seem to be a huge deal, at least from what I am finding. Since I didn't have a reason to take my temperature all the time before I got Covid, I have no way of knowing if the fever spikes pre-existed the Covid diagnosis.
Let us know if you find out anything about this. Curious!

All I can tell you right now is I googled “reasons for a fever” and the cause is usually an infection, viral or bacterial.
My guess is that we haven’t completely cleared the Covid infection from our bodies.
Any experts out there who know? Is this omicron particularly hard to kill?

I as well have this persistent low grade fever. I tested positive for covid on 6/3/20. I was very ill for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks I returned to normal. On the 3rd week I started having intermittent low grade fever. My temperature now fluctuates, staying normal (98.2) for an hour or so then jumps to 99.0-100.2 for several hours . Today is day 57 of this intermittent low grade fever. When my temperature is normal I feel ok but still weak. When I have the low grade fever I feel very weak and is accompanied by an headache. I should also mention I have slight wheezing when I breathe in. Also when I take deep breaths I have a uncomfortable pressure on the right side of my chest almost as if something is lodged. I am 38 years old male, I have always been healthy and active. I hope this is temporary.

Hi Stephan; thanks for replying.
Yes, I’ve been having headaches too the past week or so. Mainly at night, though. Normally if I have a headache at night it’s due to sleep apnea events but I use a Cpap and that is usually under control.
I also notice that my events have gone up and I’ve had to raise my pressure.
Still getting the headaches though.
I too feel weak and generally unwell but not exactly sick.
I’m a 67 yr old female who likewise has been basically healthy and active.
I too hope this is temporary.

I have been experiencing almost the exact same thing. I am also having conjunctivitis i my eyes and congestion in nose and throat and pretty bad GI issues ever since my Covid infection May 6th. I also took Paxlovid for it which did bring my smell back within 24 hours. But I still have all these issues and now test negative for Covid. I guess it is just Long Covid and taking quiet awhile to go away. I even have strange muscle and joint pain randomly…

This is almost exactly what happens to me….though at times I also have chills with my fevers. It’s been exhausting.

I’m a NHL patient who has just recovered from covid 4 weeks ago. Has anyone experiencing on off fever post covid?

Shong, you mention that you are also living with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Are you currently in treatment?

Hi Colleen, so good to hear from you. Appreciate your help in sharing more information and similar experiences from others.
Yes I’m still living with NHL maintenance treatment having just confirmed to be in remission in Feb 2022. However my maintenance treatment has been disrupted due to my Low blood counts (platelets, RBC and WBC) before covid hit me. Looking forward to hearing and learning more from all alike. Update from Kudzu.
I just took a Covid test as I’m having symptoms again! The low grade fever went down but never went away completely and now is on its way up again. The symptoms are exactly the same- diarrhea, sore throat, sniffly nose, shortness of breath, o2 levels not low but stubborn about going up when I breathe deeply, visual changes and a sick feeling. I just travelled to MAYO last week so it’s possible I picked it up in the airport or plane, even though I wore a mask most of the time.
MAYO is very careful about making people wear masks so I’m sure I didn’t get it there.
I think maybe running a low grade fever that never goes away completely indicates that my system never completely cleared the virus, and when I had the stress of traveling, it multiplied again. Opinions?
