What remedies help with post Covid cough?
I'm three to four weeks past COVID and still have cough (during the day) I sleep ok without coughing. Lungs seem to be clear, the cough is more bronchial producing expectorant. Cough remedies (except honey) don't seem to work.

I have been on the Tessalon perle now for ten days, hasn't helped with this cough. Getting so depressed. I am praying the doctor will come up with something else. Going on 8 months!
i was given mucinex daily as well pepcid ac then pantorole. you may ge experiencing the constant post nasal drip that so nany covid long haulers have. i ve been blowing my nose constantly for a year now. but the combination of everything stopped the cough
@pat12950 Mine took a long time but it did finally resolve. It basically morphed into bronchitis and that, being an infection, was helped with Z pack. That was in March and my cough had become almost constant.

Did anyone ruled out Gerd? My astham/allergy md herself takes anti-gerd medicine.
Are you using netty pot ? - strongly suggest or need to rule out post nasal drain.
I bet your ribs and diaphragm hurts like crazy. If yes, try massage therapist who knows how to release intercostal pain/tightness or chiro.
Back to cough, are you on any around the clock inhalers for maintenance like advair hfa?
If you never tried nebulizer, please try. For most people with asthma nebulized albuterol works better or different then puffs.
I also asked my pulm md for atrovent and i put it together with albuterol in nebulizer (this is the mix of two meds used in our ed). So i do it at home. When i have it bad, it can be every 2-3 hours, but Atrovent helps to relax smooth muscles and stop the cough. Could be weeks before it gets better at least for me. I also see Eastern medicine doctor: herbs, cupping, ear seeds, acupuncture.
Thanks
Lena
Cepacol also worth trying
I feel bad you have to go through that. I have had the coughing but I do bring up stuff after a long hard cough. I use a nasal steam machine in the morning and at night with a Eucalyptus/Peppermint aromatherapy and it seems to loosen the mucous. I am on prednisone and just got a new pulmonologist that put me on trelegy for my asthma instead of advair, and it has helped with the cough. Since I had to reschedule a cataract surgery 3 times due to the cough, he gave me tessalon perles, I tried them during a constant cough the other day and they worked great.
Good luck and I hope you find a solution that will help you.
I had what I call a pulmonary trifecta about 12 years. I caught whopping cough and influenza B while sailing Lake Michigan. (Unbeknownst to us one of towns was in the early stages of a whopping cough cluster.) The combo led to mycoplasmic pneumonia. I am extremely sympathetic to the miseries of awful spasmodic coughing. Having noted that, I would be extremely cautious about taking too much Dayquil and Nyquil, yet alone along with other stuff. These drugs that address a plethora of issues that you might not even have, e.g., multi-symptom cold 'remedies', have issues including cautions about glaucoma, liver, etc.
The only thing that worked for me was hydrocodone. Which is unfortunate as politicians decided it should be way harder to get in many states. So it would now take someone with my pulmonary trifecta an office-visit to get, and the prescription would be limited to 72 hours worth and needs to taken to pharmacy, in person, by the pneumonia-afflicted, already-weak person. Thereby ensuring that others in the doctors' waiting rooms, office, and pharmacy exposure to the bug as well. How can that possible be in the interests of public health?
I'm keeping the Tessalon perl thing in mind if I ever might need it.
I would add one thought. Sometimes a dry, aka "umproductive" cough, is similar to a muscle spasm and muscle relaxants can help break that response...
Thank you! I quit the Niquil and tried one Hydrocodone and two Tylenol Pm at bedtime. That helped more. I am still relying on my Albuterol to help through the night and day. I am going to the ER per my Practitioner tomorrow morning so I can get a Chest CT. On Monday my Doctor will have the results of the CT Scan and the Pulmonary Function test with the specialists remarks. Hope we will have some answers! I am continuing the Tessalon prescription and pray that it will kick in! I will mention the muscle relaxant idea too! Thank you so much!!
Thank you, I will try the nebulizer! my asthma is terrible and the puffer does not do the job! I see my doctor Monday, the 25th and we will get out heads together!
I have had gerd, Barretts disease and was treated for it and still take Nexium. No heartburn. I still suffer from Divertriculitus. That is was I was treated for in January in the hospital when I caught Covid!
