May Thurner Syndrome

Posted by mm4479 @mm4479, Jul 19, 2022

I was just diagnosed with May Thurner Syndrome and am in Arizona. We plan on flying back to Minnesota next week. Is it safe for me to fly with this condition and get treated at Rochester Mayo ? Or do I need to be treated here before flying ?

Hello @mm4479 and welcome to Connect. As you may know, Mayo Connect consists of patients, like yourself, who share their own personal experiences. We are not medical professionals and therefore we cannot give you medical advice.

You should let your doctor know of your travel plans and get his/her opinion. Are you currently being seen at the Mayo campus in Arizona?

I do go to Mayo Arizona but they do not know I have May-Thurner Syndrome as I only found out today from an outside doctor. I am returning to Minnesota in a week and would like to be treated at Rochester Mayo rather than stay here for treatment.

Hello @mm4479,

You should definitely contact the doctor who diagnosed May-Thurner Syndrome and check to see his opinion on your travel plans.

Do you plan to leave for Minnesota in the near future for treatment?
