ANA Positive - Mitotic Spindle Fibers and Nuclear Speckled

Posted by glasslynne @glasslynne, Jul 6, 2022

Hello,

I've been getting positive ANA results since 2014 - in 2014 they were 1:1280 speckled, in 2016 they were 1:640 speckled, and in 2022 they were 1:1280 nuclear speckled (AC-2,4,5,29) and mitotic spindle fibers (AC-25). In 2014 and 2016 I had more antibody testing done and everything was fine. I'm set to get more testing done soon.

Just wondering if anyone has had a mitotic ANA pattern, including spindle fibers or NuMa, etc. From what I've read the mitotic pattern isn't yet known to be linked with any specific condition, so I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has had it.

She is a new doctor and she is the one who did the 2022 test. She said the result is suggestive of an autoimmune disorder and referred me to a rheumatologist. I have an appointment with one, but it's not for a few months. I do have symptoms of something going on, and my mother had Sjogren's so that is a concern. I'm mostly just hoping someone who has also had a mitotic result and received a diagnosis might notice my post and share their diagnosis.

Lynne, there are several discussions in the Autoimmune Diseases group about positive ANA testing. Here's a short list.

– Positive ANA’s and GI issues: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/positive-anas/
– Help! Positive ANA with swelling, joint and muscle pain and brain fog: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/help-2/
– Terrible fatigue for months, positive ANA: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/terrible-fatigue-for-months-positive-ana/
– Question on ANA and dsDNA: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/question-on-ana-and-dsdna/
– Positive ANA and ENA Panel: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/positive-ana-and-ena-panel/

What led to your getting regular ANA testing since 2014? Do you have unexplained symptoms that concern you?

Yes, I do and they concern my doctors as well. I'm really only interested in the mitotic patterns. They're rare and so even in the literature there are few examples and they aren't usual for diagnosing conditions. I just wanted to talk to anyone that has them to gather more data for myself.

I recently had a positive ana with 1:320 titer ac-25,26 mitotic spindle fibers, NuMa-like pattern.
