Glutathione: What dosage do you use? Where do you get it?

Posted by kathleenlp @kathleenlp, Apr 4, 2022

Hi! Yes, I have ALL these but doing surprisingly well...mostly asymptomatic. Got HMPV at Christmas, pretty sick but bounced back. On a mission to try some out of the box treatments to keep me well. If you have used glutathione in a nebulizer, can you tell me who (type doctor) prescribed and what dosage etc. and did you think it helped? Also Sodium Chloride.

Hi Nan! I will look for the glutathione pill form as well. Can you tell me your strength of the glutathione for the nebulizer? I saw you said amount, 1 mil....
I found a doctor(MD) who also does alternative medicine right by me but I can't get in for a couple weeks. I am just trying to get everything in place. So did you ever find a Chinese practitioner or try any of that Nan? When you say chronic cough, describe for me. I rarely cough except in the morning. It is a dry cough for 5 minutes or so. Sometimes drinking something cold sets me off. I had a productive cough in the morning for about an hour for 8-10 years but my Internist just kept saying oh it is allergies until I coughed up blood and then they found everything else which I imagine I had for many, many years. Frustrating. My first pulmonary put me on azithromycin low dose once a day for 6 months and my cough disappeared!
I am concerned about my longevity/health as my husband has early stage Alzheimer's and I want to be able to care for him...he is extremely healthy otherwise and could outlive me! It is my understanding an illness like your flu or my HMPV recently can be fatal. I don't want to live in a bubble either! Thanks for all your help.! Kathy

Glutathione or GSH patches might be another option. Haven't tried them, so this is not a personal endorsement. I have seen them for sale on Amazon, and other places on the web. A bit cheaper than injections. Herbalist Stephen Harrod Buhner recommends nebulized GHS for his COPD and IPF protocols -- free articles are on his website. Hoping to find a functional doc to work with soon.
"(GSH) is a far better mucolytic than NAC which is
generally all that most physicians will suggest to you. (The studies on the effectiveness of NAC
reveal, over and over, that it is not very good.) Glutathione is better. IF you have this kind of lung
condition or similar, there is often a build up of mucus in the lungs. This is a perfect breeding
ground for infectious organisms; it also interferes with breathing. The use of a mucolytic is, in
this kind of disease, essential." - Buhner

A new treatment for bronchiectasis and NTM infections made from glutathione and Vitamin C and bicarbonate is in development.

Sounds great. But they are only in phase 2 of the studies so it looks like it will take a while before it's approved. It's wonderful that there is promising research going on to help us.

You are right, rits, these things take a long time. But at least some new possibilities are on the horizon.

Thank you for this info! I did get the sodium chloride but still trying to find someone to prescribe the GSH...I almost have my pulmonary talked into it. I felt clearer and less heavy chest after using the sodium chloride already!! Thank you again!

theranaturals sells GSH meant for use in a nebulizer -- it's GSH + sodium bicarbonate. perhaps other companies do as well, and some people make their own mix, reduced glutathione powder plus sodium bicarbonate. always better to be working with a health pro, if possible. read cautions on the theranatuals website, or other sites. people with asthma need to be extra careful. there's also a 2017 study showing that liposomal GSH raises GSH levels and immune markers. good luck!

Thank you! all good info....trying still to nail down a Functional Medicine doctor. Nan on this forum suggested alternating the mix your own with the prescription viles. I thought I might do this. I have never had an Asthma attack in my life and no wheezing except I was sick with HMPV and it resolved so hopefully no trouble with the GSH ...I will discuss with the FM doc.
This forum is so helpful!!
