Stress Management for Cancer: Free online course from Mayo

Mayo Clinic's Cancer Education Center just uploaded a new self-learning course to help people (patients and caregivers) living with cancer to manage stress.

You can work through the modules at your own pace to help you better understand how the body may respond to stressful situations, including cancer. You'll get various tools and techniques to meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, as you learn to manage stress.

@franchronic77 Good for you for getting in so fast! Kidney infections are not easy to deal with, and getting the right combination of treatment is crucial. Were they able to give you any pointers to help you before the appointment? I'm thinking increased fluids, or something like that...

Good luck on your upcoming appointment!

Staying hydrated is a challenge for me. I will always remember to drink fluids after MRI's to flush out the contrast, but then tend to forget to drink when I'm back in routine.

Lately, I've been carrying a water bottle strapped across my chest while out on my daily dog walks. For me, the trick is to time the water intake with access to the loo. But, I also carry a packet of tissues just in case I need to pop behind a bush!

What are some other things y'all do to remind yourself to stay hydrated?

@susanaz , To help with hydration, I add electrolyte drink mix to my water bottle. There are many products out there. Pedialyte is an example. I like "Liquid IV" packets, there are different flavors, my favorite is strawberry. . It was recommended my by endocrinologist. I use half of packet per 8 oz bottle water. The reason I only use half packet is taste, if use entire packet it is to sweet. Just my preference.

@roch, Great idea - I've only heard of using Pedialyte when ill, but it makes sense to use it as a healthy maintenance too. It's going on my list for next shopping. Thanks!

Late to this thread, but I have ET, a chronic blood cancer, and so many of these programs are aimed at acute cancer patients. Can you direct us chronic patients to resources for maintaining equality of life? Thx!!
