What's your review of Cochlear Osia 2 System?

I am getting the implants in a week or so. Would like to hear from people who are using these bone conduction devices.

Hi, Everyone! Thanks so much for contributing to the discussion. I'm getting the Osia 2 implant in January, and reading some of your comments had made me feel much better.
I have a new question: Do any of you wear reading glasses? I wear them, and always push them up on my forehead when I'm not reading. Is the device far enough back on your head so your glasses don't bother it?
Thanks!
RJ

Hi RJ! January will be here before you know it! I haven’t had any issues wearing my reading glasses or sun glasses since having the Osia installed. My device sits higher than the arms of my glasses but sometimes the arms do extend over the lumpy bottom area of the implant. I’m able to push my glasses up on to my head without issue. You might have trouble with them right after surgery until the swelling dissipates. I’m excited for you!

I look forward to hearing more about your journey to better hearing.

The Osia and Baha are not cochlear implants, they are bone anchored hearing aids.

Hi Stephanie, where did you have your implant surgery performed? Do you know if any doctors in Southern California do the Osia 2 Surgery?

Hi Riggyb,
No, I’m sorry; I don’t know much about the doctors in California. I’m not in that area. I’m sure there are doctors who do implant this device though. Maybe call their offices and ask or call the product companies, like Cochlear for the Osia or Med-El for the Bonebridge, and ask them for doctors in your area who use their products. Hope this helps!

I have bilateral otosclerosis and failed stapedectomy surgery. My nerve conduction is near normal. My ENT doctor is suggesting unilateral Osia 2 BC implant. My question is, since my hearing loss is bilateral, would it be appropriate to have bilateral bone conduction hearing aids implants. Thanks for any input you can provide.

Hi @thomashaus, I moved your question to this existing discussion where members are talking about the Osia 2 system. I'm hoping fellow members like @edemmenegger @sam2678 @rjinla @julieo4 @nat2021 @lmayo @paulmonday @tinytoon31 may have some thoughts on your question about bilateral hearing loss and unilateral Osia 2 implant.

Hi! My surgery was done by Dr. William Slattery at the House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles. I can't say enough good thing about him!
