Blood clot in heart
I was previously diagnosed with a blood clot in my heart and put on blood thinners for a while. I was taken off blood thinners and assumed the clot was gone because my Doc gave the ok to have my defibrillator implanted. I have had subsequent echoes and it was no longer mentioned. I had an echo yesterday and was told By a different Dr. the blood clot was still there and would probably be there the rest of my life. Was anyone here told this and if there is added danger with this condition

if you have been living with the blood clot for some time without pain and difficulty in walking etc. than it should theoretically be of no consequence...taking a daily aspirin or other blood thinners should help...if you want to see the exact position of the clot than you should go for an angiography...most clots can be removed and a stent put in place...a clot could be in the corner of an artery and thus be sidelined...

@bevh Are you under control of a cardiologist? Talk to him about the blood
clot since it traveled to your heart what chance is there it could
travel to the other chambers we have 4 chambers so talk with your
cardiologist Make sure your taking 81 MG aspirin this acts as a blood

Has anyone had their tricuspid valve replaced? I am looking at open heart surgery and would appreciate any info from those who had the replacement. Thanks!

Update: the technician who did my echo saw the clot and alerted the doctor who read my echo and a previous echo 8 months ago and said it was on that echo also. Later in the day my cardiologist called and said it was as a new clot and put me on eliquis. My point is, if the technician hadn’t alerted anyone, they might not have noticed it on this echo also. It’s frightening how much we have to depend on these doctors and how much they miss
@thankful asks if anyone has had a clot developein their heart?
Were you put on Warfarin or some other blood thinner and how did it go?
Initially my cardiologist said the clot should dissapate in 3-4 months and I may not need to be on Warfarin any longer, but my next appt. was with my PA associated with my cardiologist who said I may need to be on Warfarin the rest of my life.
Any feedback of your experiences would be greatly appreciated! Jim @thankful

1 ReactionHi, Jim (@thankful). I'm weighing in with a positive answer to your question about a clot developing in my heart. I'm on Coumadin for several years after a diagnosis of A-fib, and four years ago, a small clot developed in my heart (the atrium, upper chamber) and took a trip into my brain where it got caught and caused a "small stroke." The incident happened after my blood coagulation dropped unexpectedly, rose again when my medical team convinced me to skip my daily Coumadin dose for two days. No trouble since then. I remain asymptomatic in A-fib and regularly (faithfully) take my anticoagulant and have my blood checked in the lab every other month. I expect to be on Warfarin (10 mg daily) indefinitely to prevent a recurrence of my stroke. There are treatments for A-fib that could get me off the drug, but my status is so steadily reliable without much inconvenience that I don't feel the need for surgery to give me a permanent fix, as it has for three of my friends. As long as I remember my Coumadin and my lab tests, I'm good to go. Martin
