Insomnia, depression, anxiety
So here I am it’s 4 am I have been awake since 3 am I often wake up. I can’t go back to sleep. I can’t text my friends I could be they would ask why I was texting so early. I tried my usual sleepy time tea, Clonazepam, deep breathing etc etc and I still wake up! I remember when I was I in the hospital I would call the nurse and I would have morphine injected into my IV port and that would help me sleep. I can’t have morphine. OxyContin also made me sleepy. Can’t have that anymore I ran out. It would be so nice if I could get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Maybe someday.

No no opioid very addictive! I’m telling you, you need a set regiment! Turn off your photos if you don’t have one. Put it in another room. Out of reach! Anything that distracts you put away into another room including your tv! It should be only you and your bed! That’s your issue. Your phone and stuff are to close and easy to grab.
Thank you. This is great advice and I will try. I already take pm meds around 5 and thought maybe too early as they could wear off by midnight.
Also I’m eating evening meal too early around 4:30 and that’s why hungry in the night.
No tv in bedroom but I do have phone in order to listen to sleep meditations. But tempting to check news and emails in the night. Maybe I have to forego the meditations.
Thanks. I did leave phone out of bedroom last night and it helped. Got a few more hours sleep.
I followed a prior Mayo Clinic suggestion & programmed a alarm on my phone that tells me when to go to bed, darkens the screen, & silences everything on the phone. I have found this helpful.
If hungry in the night air popcorn plain is good, fruit is good, raw broccoli, carrots, and celery no peanut butter. No peanuts…
Yes those are good and buy the black out curtains. My daughter has them and loves them.
Glad to hear it. Keeping the distractions and temptations away certain can help. I have to turn my phone off all the way. It took sometime to get used to but it works!
@help4meandu Good for you! I bet it felt strange to do that, right?! I used to keep my phone next to me, also. But after dealing with some family issues, and resolving them, I no longer do that. I do not want the phone to be my umbilical cord, and have to feel connected all the time. Repeat your new habit again tonight, and for the next several weeks, and let's see how this will help you get more restful sleep. I'll wager it will improve your overall mood, also!

Ginger, I tried again though did check phone once but managed to leave it out of bedroom. Awoke early before 5 but I think got enough sleep. At least fewer awakenings. Will keep trying to establish this routine.
