Chronic Digestive Disorders

Posted by rozy288 @rozy288, Jun 5, 2021

I am suffering 7 years with chronic digestive disorders , that take me out every day and night . I have Chronic Gastritis, Esophagitis, Class B GERD , small Hiatal hernia , diverticulosis. The worse thing is , I deep wet beach what tastes like sewer water 2000-3000 x a day/ night . My gut can’t handle any kind of food . It just constantly churns and is so loud , non stop . I live on Ultra Pepto . I’ve tried everything under the sun , RX wise , holistic wise , diet and elimination wise . Had so many tests done ✅. Even did acupuncture and 3 sessions of hypnotherapy. 6 Gastro Drs , in 2 states . I’m not celiac and no h pylori . I Eat small and healthy when I can eat . No fast food , no caffeine , low sugar ( just fruit) low dairy . Tried Keto and Gluten free . I’m on waitlist for Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville 6 weeks now . I’m a medical mystery and it’s now getting to me emotionally. I can’t lead a normal life . So much I want to do and I’m always sick . No Dr. has helped yet . I pray daily for relief of symptoms. Even for a day or two of relief. I’m desperately seeking and tried everything they make for gut health on Amazon. Today I will start on antidepressant . I’m sick if I eat or don’t eat and have empty stomach. We rarely go out to lunch and never to dinner . Just cook at Home . My poor body is getting weary of this . 7 years taken away and counting .
Thanks, Rosemary

@saygirl other than giving you a GI cocktail in the ER. What tests have been conducted towards your symptoms to determine what is going on?

There were some things that I was not doing. I did not go back to the ER.

@saygirl

The ER did not conduct any tests. My primary care doctor told ER to send me home. Then, my primary care doctor would not refer me to a gastrointestinal doctor. I was told to keep taking high blood medicine, cholestrol, and pills for anxiety.

@saygirl get a new primary Dr. he’s / she’s nuts 🥜. Not all insurances make you get referral to Gastro Dr. and not all Gastro Dr’s require one . Get online and see which Gastroenterologist is on your plan in network and make appt w/ them . You need some answers soon !! Keep me posted . I’m sick every single day all day and half the night.7.5 long years and have seen 5 Gastro Dr’s that can’t help me w/ what I have ( the many things I have ). Wishing you the best . Rosemary

Thanks. I wish I could have my thyroid checked.

Unfortunately, it is the same pattern for this insurance company. I have changed primary car doctors now thee times. this insurance company's primary care doctors just want you to monitor your health and report to them. The insurance company sends you a free blood pressure machine that automatically reports to your primary car doctor's office. It does not matter if you are getting better or not. I have switched primary care physicians because either thy have yelled at me or walked out of the office while I was talking. The last primary care doctor fussed/argued with me for one hour. I was basically told that it was my fault that I was sick and that I was crazy. I felt so violated and disrespected.

The same insurance company does not like you going to a specialist. It has been as if they put up roadblocks for you not to see a specialist. This is a HMO with this insurance. Your primary care doctor has to refer you to a gastro doctor. I cannot count how many times and ways I have tried to help myself with this insurance company, only to get worse. Good luck with that! My last primary care doctor said "No." She would treat me with high blood pills, cholesteral meds, and pills for anxiety. My next step is to switch primary care doctors and hope for the best outcome. Perhaps, he will refer me to a spcialist.

I hate to see any of us suffering with whatever we have going on. I can't say what it is as the doctors simplify the diagnosis too much. I had thought that this upcoming scope was a Bravo procedure but I learned later on that it is not. Just an endoscopy with a few biopsies to be taken. Same old, same old. I don't expect anything constructive to come of it, but trying to remain somewhat optimistic. Someone on a post commented that nothing can be done for my symptoms except a strict acid watchers diet. That is so depressing to me and not helpful in my current state of mind. I think it ironic that most people hope for no significant findings when they have a procedure. Sadly, we hope they will find something so at least we know what we're dealing with. All the best to you when you have yours done. Mine is Thursday and I will post results one way or the other. In the meantime, prayers for all of us who struggle.

Let me know how you come out at the Mayo Clinic.

That was me and I made the decision to have Toupet’s Fundoplacation surgery as the PPI’s stopped working. I am eight weeks out and regretting it. I was readmitted a week after surgery for uncontrollable vomiting and dehydration. While things have improved some I still vomit daily (not from the stomach from the esophagus). It could be from food or even water. I barely eat and have lost so much weight. The surgeon said it will get better we’ll see.

I have some type of stomach condition, too. I don't know what is wrong. I am just wasting away, too.

I am in that boat…over the years of pain & tests & scans & tests..(cuz that’s ALL Dr’s want to do) I have no answers, no cure, nothing ! I just had a reminder yesterday from another GI who wants an ab scan..I guess just to put next to all my other scans. RIFICULOUS
Not to mention, I really don’t relish even living like this. I have no life.
