Am I understanding you stopped drinking water and it helped your pain?

I have burning feet and legs alternating with ice cold feet and legs. Diagnosed with Small Fiber Neuropathy and take 900 mg of gabapentin daily which has substantially reduced the symptoms which I feel mostly when lying down. No known cause after multiple tests.

I have prickly numb lower legs at night when laying down. All the B vitamins I have been taking have reduced my symptoms by about 50%. So that I seldom use Gaba Pentin to sleep anymore! Days continue to be fine (as long as I am vertical)!!!

No, I just forgot to drink it and didn't feel thirsty. A friend came to visit and we enjoyed margaritas and wine. that wasn't good for me either, it dehydrates. I had one day yesterday drinking a bunch of water and I am already so much better. It is amazing. My hand tingles less.

I'm taking a B complex and alpha lipoic acid. As I mentioned above, drinking a whole bunch of water has helped me. I'll update if I ever can drive again. I'm hopeful. I did a little test drive today and did a circle in the driveway and got back into the garage without having a panic attack! That was a great improvement.

Have had neuropathy for 12 yrs. Docs think it may be due to chemo. cancer is now back (stage 4). Curious about the ablation treatment for neropathy or any others ideas on relieving pain. I have tried just about everything over the last 12 yrs. Could really use some real help if there is any. Thanks.

Hello @mfj, Welcome to Connect, an online community where patients and caregivers share their experiences, find support and exchange information with others. I'm so sorry you have to deal with neuropathy along with the cancer. Here are a few sites that have some suggestions on treating the chemo induced neuropathy in case you have not seen them.

Have you tried any pharmacy compounded topical creams to help with the pain?

Yes, have had this so long. Have tried just about everything. My Onc. keeps referring me to Neurologist. My Neurologist has nothing to offer at this time and has said so. Really at a point where I think it would just be better to not exist anymore. I know that sounds morbid but, thats not really how I mean it. Just so tired of the pain.

Hi @jimmy370, I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering so much. I also have burning feet and legs. Started about a month ago. Was wondering if you or anyone else here has any advice for managing this during the day and especially at night when laying down trying to sleep? I wish you all the best in healing and otherwise. Glad you’re here. -Karen
