Boy with Left Ventricular Trabeculations

Today I just took my son, 7 years old to a pediatric cardiologist due to their hearing loss diagnosis. Genetics doctor was afraid their hearing loss could be linked to something more serious like the heart or kidneys, so that’s why we were sent to the cardiologist.

Turns out … he has trabeculations on his left ventricle viewed through an echo. He had an EKG done at first, and those results were fine. Everything else looked normal with the exceptions of the trabeculations on the left ventricle. She said it was not severe enough to confirm diagnosis for LV non-compaction, but there is enough where it’s abnormal, and raises concerns.

She says according to the ekg and echo, he has excellent cardiac function right now, and will need to be monitored in 6 months and every year after if the 6 month follow up is normal. She says we will have to do follow ups until we can confirm diagnosis through MRI, which she doesn’t recommend doing right now because he’s so young

My child has no other signs or symptoms of heart problems before this. And I honestly don’t know what to think.

Any advise or recommendations would be appreciated.
