Loosing weight on prescription drugs

Posted by davej @davej, Jul 18, 2021

Anybody had luck on loosing weight while on metoprolol or lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide. Since pandemic closed gyms down and my eating habits changed for worse and an increase in prescription drugs strength. I gained 40 lbs, this summer started biking, walking eating much better but no luck on dropping any weight

I've been on blood pressure meds since my 40s. One of them has always been a diuretic with hydrochlorothiazide and I have always had problems losing weight until I heard about intermittent fasting by watching a video by Dr. Jason Fung - https://youtu.be/7nJgHBbEgsE. It has allowed me to lose 30+ pounds and keep it off since Jan 2020. There is another discussion you may want to join and meet other members discussing intermittent fasting and more.

I lost 15 pounds and I am on lisinopril and metro….It was very slow weight loss and took 18 months. Exercise helped but the crucial factor was how much I had to reduce caloric consumption. I am a 74 year old woman. If I can do it so can you. Persistence is important.
