Uterine clear-cell carcinoma, chemo treatment unknowns
Hi there! My mum has been diagnosed with Carcinoma of uterine body pT3bN1aM1 (Metastases of clear cell carcinoma in one of the ovaries, uterine tube, the greater omentum, lymph nodes). On 1st of March she had surgery: radical hysterectomy, lymph node dissection along the iliac blood vessels, omentectomy (Kyiv, Ukraine). She was discharged from the hospital and recommended chemotherapy. In different clinics in Kyiv we were offered 4 or 6 rounds of Carboplatin + Paclitaxel. Is it a right (internationally proved) schema?
One complication for choosing treatment is deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in her legs. In one clinic we were told to wait 2 weeks taking Rivaroxaban 20 mg until starting the chemo. In another clinic, we were told to start chemo next week because it’s dangerous to wait in the long term. I’m very concerned about different suggestions, considering and thinking about the long term and short term risks...

Thank you Colleen. I have 3 more pelvic radiation treatments and then planning visit and 2 brachy treatments, one next week and one the week after. Just learned more details. Anyone have pain or concerning side effects? It has me a bit anxious but sounds like it won't be too bad. I am not feeling great this week but I am almost done treatment. It could be worse! Plan to try and rest this last few weeks.

Eileen. I had three brachytherapy sessions. They are fast, not painful, Fatigue May happen. It may be the better of all the therapy you are going through.

1 ReactionEileen, I also had three approximately 10-minute-long brachytherapy sessions. My doctor said it was like an exclamation point on the end of my active therapy (hysterectomy and chemo). That was almost four years ago and I am very grateful that I have had no recurrence. Wishing you great healing and great thriving!

Thank you Miriam! I had my first today. It was not too bad! and I only have one more and thenI am completely done. I am pretty fatigued overall at this point. I am fine for a while and then suddenly exhausted later in the day. How are you doing? If you want to share. I think you were finishing chemo? Hope you have all good news. Eileen

1 ReactionEileen, I had 5 brachytherapy treatments, all painless for me, and with no immediate or long-term side effects. It has been almost 3 years since I had them and I have been in remission all of that time. You can do this, you WILL make it to the other side! We are here if you need us 🙂

Hi Eileen.
I did finish 6 rounds. Met with the doctor on May 3rd. It seems 2 tumors are gone, 2 others are much smaller. I will now start on Immunotherapy, Keytruda on May 18 , every 3 weeks and after the 3rd round we will have another CT scan. Fingers crossed
