Very Loud Alarm Clocks

Get a Shake and Wake...I have been using one for years...you have the option for strobe, sound or a vibrating disc that you put under your mattress. You can use all three settings and will be convinced the Martians have landed or just one or two settings. I use the vibrating disc under my 3 inch temperpedic mattress topper. Just make sure it is not directly under your head...just somewhere near your torso....it really vibrates. You will be jolted awake. The brand I have is Sonic Alert...Amazon has many types. I also have a small travel one that vibrates that I clip to a pillow.

The clocks numbers are large and mine has dimming options for the brightness and 2 different alarm settings. Also has a snooze function. Sonic Alert is my second one...first one lasted about 10 years.

Obviously this is a issue that needs to be resolved quickly, as I can imagine that not waking up on time can cause all kinds of issues with appointments, work, meetings, etc.

Members like @lacy2 @lioness @jaema active members in the hearing loss group and may be able to offer further suggestions.

May I ask if you have a smart watch? If you did, it may be able to vibrate but I think it depends on the type and settings.

@imallears Thank you for replying so quickly. My cats - who reign my home and consider our bed to be "theirs" not mine, would automatically 'veto' anything shaking or vibrating, disturbing their very precious slumber. I much prefer very loud noise vs jolted. No longer purchase from Amazon as they require texting to login/enter code which is not possible without smart technology which I do not have or have ever used. No longer possible to use plain vanilla email login & ordering on Amazon (customer service phone calls were all repeated disasters). Hopefully Amazon does not have a monopoly on very loud alarm clocks!

@erikas Thank you for your very quick reply! I am saving the link for the Good Housekeeping article. Hopefully I can find them available in retail shops to hear how loud they are. Amazon is no longer available for me (requires texting, etc. which I cannot do as I do not have or have ever used any smart technology). At 78 I getting closer and closer to 80 long retired, in person meetings too risky still,
only appointments are medical, dental and cat veterinarian. Looking forward to exploring the GH loud alarm clocks. Thanks again

Hello. My hearing loss is such that I can go without hearing aids and as retired and spend most of my time in my room turn up tv etc., or phone.... although their office is closed now re Covid I did used to go to see a counsellor at the Canadian Hearing Society covered by our Provincial Health Plan and they had a display of clocks and telephones etc. When I was working for a government landlord years ago we teemed up with the C.H.S. and provided a little box the tenant plugged their lamp into which made it flash when there was a telephone call or someone in the lobby buzzing. We also provided smoke detectors and to those with hearing loss, ones that flashed; however, I do remember that although they worked for many, they didn't for others.... so I hope you find something that works well for you. Do you have a non-profit hearing assistance organization that could help? J.

@lacy2 Thank you for your reply. A really very loud alarm clock is what I need. My Panasonic
specialty amplified hearing impaired feature laden landline, with the volume set at the highest level, still wakes me -- just need a clock that can do the same.

...once when I was in Canadian Hearing Office I bought a cute pink heart-shaped clock (for those with low hearing) for my daughter even tho she does not require loud alarm, it was sooo cute and it was very loud. She didnt want it as uses iphone so I donated it back. I just had a look to see if they still sell them but offices are closed due to Covid...I was looking for one for you. Hello, thank you for exploring Canadian Hearing Office; I do appreciate it. Just beginning to research what may be available in retail stores. Income Tax season here in the US (normally due 4/15 - but extended to 5/15 due to Pandemic) is a a bit of a distraction right now.

Hi... I had a peek and the one I gave back was medium size and the digital numerals were different colours...so cute and it was extra loud.. they even said to make sure alarm not set when you leave home - I suppose might wake other residents? I had a quick look and couldnt find it again but a small heart shape "siren" type but said "desktop"... you have a much biggrer selectiion in USA than we do so once your income tax is done am sure you will find something. Our income tax is very basic and we had a friend of daughter do it alrady. Well 7am here .. off to face another day, wouldnt mind even one day without any illness but i am sure millions of people are saying that. Take care... J.

You may want to look at the Diglo catalogue. This is the former Harris Communications catalogue. Many of the alarm clocks used by people with hearing loss use vibrations rather than sound. Some even use vibrating watches around their ankles. Kids seem to like that method.
