Mac + lung cavity

Posted by bevmac @bevmac, Jun 24, 2020

my 3 centimetre cavity has healed in 16 months with the 3 antibiotics - both shocked and delighted. Preventative medicine doctor assisted my immune system cope - also recommended a vegan diet for last 9 months.

@migizii

Thx! So, if I find a better price at a different pharmacy, then I can ask my pharmacy to send the script they have to the other pharmacy correct? Can you use the coupon more than once?

Migizii, you can have your prescription transferred to any pharmacy of your choice. I am not sure about the coupon being re-usable, but you could probably print more when needed.

idk, but you can ask, it might encourage them to price match the items.

I have a 4 cm MAC leison. I also have IPF. Five months ago I had a bronchoscopy that went badly and I caught pneumonia.

At around the same time I lost considerable exercise breathing capacity as measured on a spo2 meter.

I am trying to figure out if MAC or IPF is causing my breathing loss. Did your MAC majorly affect your o2 uptake?

Thanks

Likely, both are causing the the O2 uptake to diminish.
Two questions - are you taking antibiotics for the MAC infection? Are you doing daily airway clearance to keep your lungs as clear and strong as possible?

I’m all new to this forum. Can you tell me what MAC is? I have bronchiectasis and recently did a sputum sample with positive results of pneumonia and influenzae bacteria. It has been a gnarly ride! If I had MAC would it have shown up in the sputum culture?🤷🏼‍♀️

It takes about six weeks for MAC to show up in a culture.
This is from the American Lung Association:
“MAC lung disease is an infection caused a group of bacteria called Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC). MAC includes two closely related species, Mycobacterium avium and Mycobacterium intracellulare, and may also be referred to as MAI. MAC is one of a large group of nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), and the most common cause of NTM lung disease in the U.S.”
