Post-operative Gastroparesis
I have Gastroparesis .. the post operative type.. where some of the nerves that surround the stomach were damaged and my stomach is slow to empty.

Foam sometimes forms in my stomach to the point where it comes up and out...I have to eat small portions ..cut up very small..
Since getting my diagnosis at Mayo a couple years ago I am gaining weight again but still thin .. Every meal is a challenge ..
It sounds as though you have more than gastroparesis. The foamy mucosa usually comes from other problems like silent reflux or swallowing problems like achalasia or Barrett's esophagus. With gastroparesis you need a lower fiber diet and avoid fibrous fruits and vegetables... like the stems of broccoli or celery and peels of fruits. Seeds of cooked tomatoes and summer squash can cause problems too.. so scoop them out before cooking them. You should avoid raw foods. Eat soft cooked easily digestible fruits and veggies.. canned fruit is fine.. and eat tender meats. You can use your device's browser and search for easily digestible foods.
Eat small meals... 5 or 6. You will never feel hungry this way so you have to schedule when and what you will eat. There are many apps than can help you know how many calories you need to gain and maintain weight and keep up with what you eat and your progress. These apps make for good food diaries and can help you figure out things that make your symptoms worse. I have trouble maintaining weight and have to eat some sweets and fatty foods to gain, but with no gallbladder this is difficult for me. If I could only drink those protein drinks... they make me nauseous.

Thank you!.. I'll look into that.. the foam doesn't always form to the point where it comes up ... Some times the smallest thing can set it off...If I eat slow...small bites...crunchy stuff crackers with the cheese that works... Broccoli never...trail mix is my snack of choice...dried fruit, mixed nuts, M&Ms. Liquids like Orange juice can start the resistance problem... Gin and Tonic works well in the summer .never more than one.. steak is really a task...to cut up that small.. pickled herring works as a fish smack..
Snack.. it seems as if I am always looking for food to eat. .
Those Ensure type drinks have dairy yogurt in them, I can't do them either.. Silk (soy) yougrt works.. celery with peanut butter works only if I bite short raw pieces so the stringy parts are very short...I eat tomatoes with Avocado and mozzarella almost every day for a salad. Leafy greens have to be cut up very small...olive oil and reduced balsamic is a delight.
That sounds delicious! I’m always hungry because I’m afraid to eat
In the Caprese Salad above I only use basil leaves cut up in short ribbons... I rarely eat other salads except the stalky parts of romaine and Iceberg.. If I put some leafy things in my blender.. that works too... but a mess to clean when in a hurry...
So avocado and tomatoes are ok for you? I am getting up my courage to try some foods. Thanks!
Oh avocados are really great..lots of protein too...I have now what I call a compulsion to eat an avocado frozen dessert... it's is said to have 1 avocado per pint..
