How do you deal with dry eyes?

I have dry eyes due to sjogren's syndrome. Does anyone else deal with dry eyes?

Good evening @deannweir, @sue225, I have graduated to Xiidra. It seems to be doing the job as I need less of the artificial tears every day. The ophthalmologist told me that the only way I could escape dry eye with small fiber neuropathy was to move to a rain forest. So far MN has higher humidity and more moisture (rain/snow) than any other place I have lived including Hawaii. It is so good to see folks sharing what works or might work for other members. Thank you everyone.

May you all be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.
Chris

@artscaping hi chris, just wondering if you experienced any stinging or burning with Xiidra. You probably dont have to go as far as the rainforest. Ireland would do the trick😉

Aquaphor for skin, plugs in the drains of my tear ducts, Oasis Tears Plus during the day and eye “ointment” (not lubricant) at night. I had a cough for years that was misdiagnosed as bronchitis. Guess what? Dry bronchial tubes due to Sjogrens. Who knew? With a humidifier on my cPap machine, I finally have that under control.

I have a dry mouth and dry eyes. I use nasal spray because I have great difficulty breathing through my nose. I get swollen nasal passages. I was being prescribed prednisone to take down the swelling. Now, I have high blood pressure, can't have prednisone. I am not supposed to use the nasal spray but not being able to breathe makes my bp go up higher. The Afrin spray for severe congestion really helps, Thank God. I just wanted to say I was using Biotene for dry mouth until I read the ingredients. Paraben is listed in the ingredients. I had it written down in a little notebook -- paraben is cancer causing. Now, I am afraid to use it.

A note here. I read on the bottle of Biotene it contains polyparaben and I don't know if it is different than just paraben. I just saw the word paraben and it alerted me to my note. Woogie

I use Refresh for dry eye, Biotene for dry mouth. Any suggestion for dry skin besides Cetaphil and Lubriderm? Thanks!

@littlesue My Dr told me to get ACT mouthwash so that's what I use there's no Paraben in it

My husband is a chemist. He said there are many parabens but, he is not aware of one called polyparaben. The person writing the label may have mistakenly referred to a group of parabens as a polyparaben thinking that poly means many. In this case, poly refers to polymer which is a long chain molecule such as plastic. ‘Doesn’t sound good to me. I’m glad you pointed it out.

What nasal spray do you use? Some are very drying.
Do you have allergies?

@funcountess: I forgot about my dry nasal! So far no luck with any spray or ointment! Sometimes I just used Vaseline. Any suggestions?
