I had the burning pain you describe which did subside maybe by 8 weeks. For sleeping, I slept under a loose blanket which was not tucked in. That seemed to help quite a bit. Also took 1/2 pain pill for first 8 weeks at bedtime.
I'm three and 1/2 weeks out and my burning is now gone. Granted it was only a silver dollar size on the inside of my knee but it burned like hell. PT and Dr both said it's from a nerve they sometimes have to move or cut.

Chi girl, So glad you’re doing better now. It appears we just have to wait it out sometimes and let our bodies do their mending. I’m 13 days post surgery with bilateral TKR. By all measurements available from my PT I’ve got great ROM for 2 weeks post op. I’ve still got a lot to go to get at ‘0’ or ‘120’. But, I’m sleeping better at night but still wake up multiple times during the night. Sometimes my husband will get me up and we’ll walk around the house to loosen up the tight muscles. I’m trying to do everything my PT tells me to do.
I know I have a lot of work ahead, but it will be so much better after the healing.
Jetter, Hi and anyone with burning. I am 9 weeks out and trying to get my quads strong enough to lift my foot off the bed when I contract them and straighten the leg, pressing the knee down to the bed by contracting the quads. When I do that, and when I do a straight leg raise while contracting really hard to keep the leg straight at zero degrees, I get intense burning on the inside of my knee towards the top. The PT's don't know what to say but want me to continue because Ineed to wake up my quads more and get them stronger. Does anyone know anything more about if the burning sensation is a bad sign for damaging the knee or what?

Hi @nellieo - Welcome to Connect! I think you will find a lot of kindred souls here. I had a TKR in 2017 and another one in January 2019. Thankfully, I didn't have that burning and stinging sensation but I've read of many people who did. I'm so sorry that you are still having it after nearly 9 months. That must be really frustrating. I had a tkr one year ago May 2018. Around month 6 I started developing stinging, achy, burning feeling on knee area. I had been referred to PT where therapist attempted to deal with pain to no avail. Surgeon referred me to a Physiatrist. Saw Physiatrist and diagnosed with CRPS (Complex regional pain syndrome) a nerve condition. Had two treatments where they inject the knee with numbing agent. It has definitely made a difference as I don’t feel the degree of pain I had prior to shots. Knee not 100% but pretty close as I still have a small amount of discomfort. Seek another opinion other then surgeon as his work is done with knee replacement. Hope this helps
I had my first knee replacement November 2016; Rehab was a trip to hell. It didn't help that I live alone. The other knee was done 10 months later (October 2017 and had a much easier rehab. However, both knees have a burning sensation from 2-3 inches below the knee to just above the knee. It's not in the knee cap area but more to the sides. It wasn't bad until this past fall, so almost 2 years after 2nd replacement. I can walk better than I can stand in one place, so if I'm standing in one place or barely moving around, I have to sit down every 10-15 minutes at best. I fear neuropathy, but don't understand why it wold start that long after surgery. I still have pinching pain especially in the latest knee...certain positions make it feel like a vice grip is around the knee cap. Anyone have any answer to this?
