Aging and Changing

Posted by bakerwise @bakerwise, Oct 16, 2018

Discussion Group for people frustrated by eating out in public or feeling as if behavior with a diagnosed but not "solved" problem could result in exclusion from their family's dinner table. Examples: Spontaneous urination and laughter during dinner or tremor that causes food to be pushed off a plate.

Well, sometimes life doesn't give you choices, and you have to do the best with the hand you're dealt.

What is frustrating to me is the lack of energy to do all I once did in a day!!! Now in my 80's, my husband and I laugh that we thought we could just keep going as we always had, and then one day...drop!!! Doesn't seem to work that way - we're breaking down, one part at a time. and learning to deal with the limitations is so difficult.

Well, I am not alone in the fatigue arena for the aged. Sad when I read how many of us are affected by weariness. I am only 67. Is what it is. We do the best we can. Disheartening when the mind says go and the body cannot obey. Currently eye drops and BP medication has me zapped and in more pain than I have been for quite awhile. It has been a week with no improvement with what I am told are side effects. Choices are deal w/ side effects or eventually lose my sight and/or risk a stroke w/o the medications. I do detest these side effects and hoping my body can adjust. I know others that do not have these type of side effects. Discouraged for now. ☹️

My 92 year old mother was very active. Her formula was “swim snd take a short walk” three times a week. Live a good life and enjoy it. When others asked about her age and activities, she would point to her head and say,
“Getting old is mental. Why? Because we are as old as we feel, and I feel great,

That is so true. I am 89. No one believes me. I don't look or act my age according to "someone's" definition of how I should look or act. I live by myself and do everything by myself except for a housekeeper who comes in every 3 weeks to do the heavy cleaning. I still am able to drive and can drive myself anywhere I need to go, including freeways. Your mother is spot on.

I am 89, and I thought I wrote what you wrote. The only difference in my housekeeper only comes in once a month.
