@jodeej I thought you said somewhere that his MELD was 36. I am not surprised that if it's 30 he has not yet been transplanted, particularly if he happens to be type O. I understand that type can take longer, probably because they can transplant those livers to anyone waiting, whereas type A. B, AB can only go to the same types.

@contentandwell
staging for liver and Bile duct cancer is when the do a lapo procedure and check to see if the cancer has spread. they will take biopsy. Negative means your good and the cancer has not spread. you will get activated for transplant. Positive means the cancer has spread to other areas and organs. You will be removed from the transplant list. I hope to be staged this July but I have been passed over twice already. I really would want to know what road I am taking.

Happy news! After being on transplant list for a liver since Feb 2017 and being activated March 23, 2018, a match was made this past thursday and transplant took place early June 22 at Mayo Rochester. My husband is doing great!!

What wonderful news, @lisamb! I wish you and your husband all success.

@lisamb

@lisalamb so happy to hear your news! Gives me hope that my call will come soon. Been on the wait list since July 10 2017

@contentandwell hopefully your transplant will be soon. They're waiting for a match for me.

@jerrydrennan, When my docs thought I might have bile duct cancer, I had to be inactivated from transplant list until a biopsy showed I was cancer free. Tests were negative, and I was able to be reactivated. Therefore, I am not familiar with the staging process, and I appreciate your explanation.

I do have a question for you - What does it mean to be 'passed over' as you have indicated?
Rosemary

The nurse coordinator has set me up twice to be staged. I was passed the first time the nurse said there where some other that needed to go before due to health issues. The second time was actually schedule and was canceled by the surgeon 3 weeks before the schedule . If I understand her right there was two many on the active list. Dr wanted to set up around sept. To October to stage me.
I was called on june22 and was told they want to stage me. They have had a lot of transplant done. That's a blessing. ( @lisamb) . I was also told it could be canceled when I go up there for my regular visit in July. I will not expect it to happen so maybe the pass will not be such a hard emotional drop.

@lisamb congratulations! I'm so happy for the two of you!

@jerrydrennan I've been praying for you!
