Pericarditis/Constrictive Pericarditis
Hello, I would like to learn if anyone here has or had Constrictive Pericarditis. What are the treatments, which doctor in Mayo clinic you recommend?

I was just diagnosed with "possible" pericarditis after a cardiologist saw my stress test ultrasound. I have been having issues breathing, taking a deep breath, getting sharp chest pain and back pain, but on my center right side and through to my back, not left side. I get a very heavy, draggy, tight, pressure feeling in chest. Everything varies in intensity...like this morning not so bad, and now awful. Bra even feels weird, tight, and constrictive. Sleeping sucks. All of this happened after I was running and I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else after over exertion. Also, has anyone used ice for the pain? My doctor told me it was anxiety for 3 weeks--I missed a month of treatment because he wouldn't listen. This is horrible. I've never had so much pain and discomfort in my life. I'm worried that my doctor dragged his feet for too long. We shouldn't have to beg for them to do right by us.
My son who is 26 years old has been diagnosed with pericarditis it has been two months and he is not getting better he is on colchicine and pain med he has been through a lot and I am wondering if anyone has gone through this or how long does it take I am afraid he is not managed right

Hi,
Myself I have had this on and off confirmed 7 times from 15 to now 28 years old from 1 month to 7 months. Is he by any chance taking aspirin or advil derivitive ? I am asking as for some reason beyond Dr knowledge I cannot take either as it actually increases symptoms and pain.
Good morning
He is taking Tylenol Can I ask you how high your heart rate got to?? Did they give you prednisone?? We’re you on bed rest for all this time or you are practicing your life with pain? Thank you for any help god be with you always

Hello @pureprousa,
I'm sorry to hear that you son is still dealing with a high fever and bed rest. How old is your son?
Do you live near a university medical center and/or a Mayo facility where you can get a second opinion?
Here is a Mayo Clinic video about this condition along with treatment options:

Good morning my son is 26 years old I took an appointment with Mayo Clinic for second opinion but they won’t see him unit October 30 so I was trying to look for answers/solutions
hi -- i've been through 5 cardiologists so far. and i've had to do a lot of research b/cuz i don't get any thoughtful answers from the drs. so i am not qualified to tell you anything. but i'll share my experiences w. you if you want.
@pureprousa I'm so pleased that you have an appointment at Mayo in October. Fromm what I've read, it appears that recovery can take a long time. Mayo Clinic has a way of putting the puzzles pieces of symptoms together and making a good treatment plan and diagnosis.
Did you look at the video I posted yesterday? It may give you some helpful information.
