Heart Rhythm Conditions – Welcome to the group
Welcome to the Heart Rhythm Conditions group on Mayo Clinic Connect.
Did you know that the average heart beats 100,000 times a day? Millions of people live with heart rhythm problems (heart arrhythmias) which occur when the electrical impulses that coordinate heartbeats don't work properly. Let's connect with each other; we can share stories and learn about coping with the challenges, and living well with abnormal heart rhythms. I invite you to follow the group. Simply click the +FOLLOW icon on the group landing page.
I'm Kanaaz (@kanaazpereira), and I'm the moderator of this group. When you post to this group, chances are you'll also be greeted by volunteer patient Mentors and fellow members. Learn more about Moderators and Mentors on Connect.
Let's chat. Why not start by introducing yourself?

Do you know what your magnesium level is, Martin?
@hopefull33250, Teresa, not off-hand. I'll check it out and put it up here. Martin
Teresa (@hopeful33250), it turns out I haven't had my magnesium lab-tested for a while -- not since I was in deep with my nephrologist in late 2012. It wasn't a problem then when it measured 2.1 mg/dl (standard range was 1.6-2.8 mg/dl), and I assume it's OK now with no symptoms. Martin
Martin, I use Magnesium Citrate cuz that is the one the Natropath told me is best absorbed.
Can’t take Hawthorne when taking beta blocker.
scaredy-cat, please enlighten me. I was on carvedilol when I began with the hawthorne. Adding this supplement proved no problem, so please help me understand why I should not have been combining the 2.
I only research online and it definitely says not to take Hawthorne if you are on beta blockers, so I’ve been researching Hawthorne, so I take metropolol, so I would be afraid of taking the hawthorne.
I on the other hand am afraid of beta blockers. While I was on Cardevelol I had lots of migraines. I had been on Metropolol and the migraines were gone. Can't recall why I was switched, but was. Then the migraines came back. Also, when I tried to wean off the beta blocker I would have the migraines. That was until I slowly weaned off a dose per week decrease. Have not hd a migraine since.
Hi, I'm Diane (dyannne), 81. I had Afib 10+ years ago and had an ablation, which fixed it for 8-9 years. Had a heart attack last May and was recovering very well, working out at the gym, going 3.6 mph on the treadmill, and then my heart went out of rhythm. Boom. I'm bummed. It's not as bad as it was before. I'm continuing going to the gym lifting weights, doing the machines, but not treadmill. I don't have enough stamina for that.
Hi, how do you feel after exercise?
