my psychiatrist prescribed ENLYTE for depression.

Posted by georgette12 @georgette12, Dec 5, 2017

Out of desperation, my psychiatrist finally decided to try a different tactic. I have been taking ENLYTE for unrelenting symptoms not helped by any meds. or ECT treatments. Please call up the website. It is used for many things...but is actually more super doses of vitamin Bs and Ds and folic acid. I will be away from my computer for several hours but I wanted to start this discussion now. Will check back later.

I've been reading about EnLyte and it seems to be mostly a B12 combination. It stated that it is used as an adjunct to regular anti-depressants and it's primary use is for pernicious anemia. It states "Rx only" ..... so why is it on Amazon? I think I'll just push my intake of Vit B Complex, B-12 and B-16 up a bit and see if that does anything. If not, next time I see my Psychiatrist I'll ask him about it.

After reading still more (I'm a real researcher) I am going to up my B complex, B-12 and B-6, and I am DEFINITELY going to talk to my Psych. about it. I may get a bottle, and print out the spiel for him to see. This is interesting and if it is safe and works, could help a lot of people, IF being the important word there.

My computer seems to have gone nuts this AM. I looked up ENLYTE, and you can get it on Amazon. Now I don't know if it's as good as if a doctor gives you an Rx but sometimes Big Pharma tries to keep these things under wraps so they can charge more. I'm going to research this, each ingredient, and maybe ask my Psychiatrist about it.

Hello @georgette12

It is so good to hear from you! It has been awhile since you last posted. I have never heard of Enlyte before, so I did a google search and I did find that it is a supplement of vitamins (B vitamins, D and folic acid). Here is the website for those who are not familiar with it, http://www.enlyterx.com/about-enlyte/.

Have you begun this vitamin therapy yet? We would all be interested in knowing how it works for you. Also, has your doctor treated other clients of his/hers with this supplement? We look forward to hearing from you.

Teresa

Back to Enlyte. It is still working and I am still only taking Depakote for a mood stabilizer and Ambien for sleep. Plus my husband is currently being diagnosed by a cardiologist and pulmonary doctor for heart and lung problems. My stress level is way beyond my "normal" capacity to deal with...and I am at my wit's end in dealing with all of it. But I just refilled the bottle again as I have taken it since November. Just before I started it, I had a few weeks of severe anxiety, tearfulness, crying, barely able to function, and this was not going away. My psychiatrist offered "regular" drugs to try but said since I never had success with anything else it made sense to try this if I was up to it.

The thing about Enlyte and why it is prescription is the way the ingredients that make it up are formulated. I already had gone to the health store and asked about purchasing the vitamins and minerals that are in it. The company that produces it does not list the exact formulation of course. So we are forced to buy it! I had already gone through the vitamin/Mineral route and that definitely does not work for me. But maybe it could work for others. Anyway, by the time I spent all that money on vitamins I could have bought a few months of Enlyte. Please research. Blessings.

A few of you were talking about EnLyte, a folate supplement, for depression. I wanted to check in with you on this and see how things went with your investigation or trying out this medication. I think that all members in this discussion will be interested in and benefit from your answers.

@georgette12 - wanted to check in with you and see if you are still taking a folate supplement EnLyte. If so, how has it gone for you?

@kdutcher - you'd mentioned you had a prescription for this supplement. Has it helped you? Have you experienced any side effects?

@amberpep - you were thinking about talking to your psychiatrist about this supplement. What did he say about it?

Realize this post is old but just wanted to let anyone know that Enlyte D is now classified as a medical food and no longer needs a prescription. You can purchase it directly from directvaluedispense.com. It's really a miracle super food. My daughter was on meds for depression and we eased off that and replaced it with the Enlyte D and it's made such a difference in her life. Really can't recommend it highly enough. It is expensive ($124 for a 90 day supply) but it works. Thanks

Thank you for posting this. I'm going to check this. I pay 65.00 a month to have 30 capsules shipped to me. That is ENBRACE HR SOFT GELS. From GoGo meds. Com. I've been off it for 2 months because if cost but I am reevaluating that.
