Liver hemangioma/liver resection
I have been referred to mayo for a giant liver hemangioma to discuss liver resection surgery. Has anyone had a liver resection? Just curious how the Mayo process goes and the surgery.

Which Mayo will you be going to? Do you live nearby?
And how about friends from church or any social groups, or parents of children's friends to help you out?

1 Reaction@sheikham1, Of course you must now be double frightened and concerned about the outcome. Anybody would be in your situation!
While I am not familiar with your condition, except what I read in the link that Lisa and I sent to you, I am confident that the surgeon and the staff at Mayo will be looking into every possible best treatment for you. At Mayo, you might see one doctor, but he/she is part of a team of experts and they consult with each other to discover what is best for the patient. You will be treated as an individual, and your needs will be foremost in the plan, whatever it is.
When my liver condition could not be treated at my local facility due to complications, it was my own transplant team that referred me to Mayo.
I expect that the MRI will give them some more information to consider in preparation for your appointment. I hope that they can find a way to stop the growth og the hemangioma.
How do you feel? Do you have any bothersome symptoms to contend with?

1 Reaction@sheikham1, Okay, so what I understand you to be saying is that you have been referred, but not yet talked to the surgeon. Is that right? Well, take a deep breath and be assured that the surgeon will explain and answer your questions. The level of the surgeon's expertise in his area of specialty, will give you great reassurance about the surgery. Example - I love my PCP, but he will admit that a specialist knows so much more than he does.
I expect that you will be getting that letter in the near future.
Will you have to travel far for the MRI, or for the surgery?
Hi i am planing for surgery of liver hemangioma 21ctm size at Mayo clinic
Hi, @sheikham1 - I wanted to welcome you to Mayo Clinic Connect. Glad to hear you are coming to Mayo Clinic for your surgery.
I thought you might like to meet some others who have talked about liver hemangioma, like @phillrachel @meg4434 @donna38, so they can offer some thoughts on the condition and your upcoming surgery. @rosemarya has experience with liver-related surgery - transplant - at Mayo Clinic, and may have some thoughts for you. My own father-in-law had liver surgery at Mayo Clinic as well (related to metastases from neuroendocrine cancer), with wonderful results.
While we wait for others to join the conversation, I thought this Mayo Clinic information on liver hemangioma might be useful: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/liver-hemangioma/symptoms-causes.
How are you feeling about your upcoming surgery, @sheikham1?

1 Reaction@sheikham1 - I join Lisa in extending a welcome to you. I am unfamiliar with the condition-liver hemangioma, but I have experienced liver transplant surgery at Mayo Clinic Rochester. I would be happy to share any information from my own experience if that might be helpful to you.
I want to resend you the link that Lisa included in her message.
