Liver hemangioma/liver resection
I have been referred to mayo for a giant liver hemangioma to discuss liver resection surgery. Has anyone had a liver resection? Just curious how the Mayo process goes and the surgery.

Liver hemangioma I was also wondering about this diagnoses. I read both of those articles and either went online but what l want to know if you have coils of veins with shunt s is that the same? Because when l came to the Mayo Clinic the vascular medicine doctor said that when they did my TIP surgery they did it wrong and it's all coiled up and one shunt is open but he didn't know how wide. Then he ordered an ultrasound and the next thing is that l have to come back for a consult with a gastroenterologist so l don't know what that means
So l just want to know if this is the same diagnoses. I know they said sometimes it can be corrected with medicine, surgery or of course a transplant which l am really not worried about that but l just want to have some understanding. And if there is a website of TIP surgery uncessiful surgery.
Hi I was suppose to do my liver hemngioma 21ctm .sep2018 but I had to go through more check up now dr decide to in Dec . I tried to look here is any one went through this surgery?

1 Reactionsheikham1 @sheikham1, I just read your post. I hope your surgery will go smoothly and that you will have a quick recovery. Will your sister be able to be with you as you had planned in September?

2 ReactionsI had a liver resection Jan 2018 for a 14 x10 cm tumor on right lobe. They were only able to safely remove this one and left the smaller (2-3cm) lessions on left. Mine was a very rare Biliary Cystadenoma, these can turn into adenocarcinoma with time and are slow growing, so safe to say I had mine for a very, very long time.
I had a liter of fluid drained out of it.
I did have another tumor nearby attched to my diaphragm but this was found to be a mesothelial cell tumor (also rare).

1 Reaction@sheikham1, Of course you must now be double frightened and concerned about the outcome. Anybody would be in your situation!
While I am not familiar with your condition, except what I read in the link that Lisa and I sent to you, I am confident that the surgeon and the staff at Mayo will be looking into every possible best treatment for you. At Mayo, you might see one doctor, but he/she is part of a team of experts and they consult with each other to discover what is best for the patient. You will be treated as an individual, and your needs will be foremost in the plan, whatever it is.
When my liver condition could not be treated at my local facility due to complications, it was my own transplant team that referred me to Mayo.
I expect that the MRI will give them some more information to consider in preparation for your appointment. I hope that they can find a way to stop the growth og the hemangioma.
How do you feel? Do you have any bothersome symptoms to contend with?

1 ReactionThe hard part is o don't have my family here what around me my hubby and 3 kids youngest 9yrs old
Which Mayo will you be going to? Do you live nearby?
And how about friends from church or any social groups, or parents of children's friends to help you out?
That will be such a comfort to you to have your sisters with you. I know that they will bring you (and family) a big dose of love:-) Best medicine in the world!
