Anyone taking Tagrisso for Lung Cancer?

My doctor will not reduce my dosage to the 40 mg. He said that my side effects are "not that bad". The worst is the diarrhea and muscle cramps in my hands and feet

Have you ad a scan since reducing the dosage, and is still effective?

@eds611 hello, I’m on a plant-based diet. I follow Chris. Wark. If you look him up, he had stage three colon cancer and he opt out of radiation and chemo and everything with diet. They told him if he didn’t do chemo he died in six months. But he’s been clean now for 20 years. I will check him out.

@vking yes, so far so good. I developed terrible bruises on my legs and my platelets dropped very low. The pharmacist oncologist said 40 mg will work too.

Welcome @eds611!, were you recently diagnosed with EGFR lung cancer? How was the cancer identified? It can be such an overwhelming time, there is so much new information! Many of us here can help.

@flusshund Hello Matthew, Its wonderful you are going on to 6 years. How are you doing? How long have you been on Tagrisso. Does this therapy go beyond 3 years ? All the best to you.

@lls8000 It is my husband who has EGFR NSCLC. He was tested and started Tagrisso 12/25. He has Stage IV with small brain Mets and bigger issues in his spine. Tagrisso may have ended brain issues, and has helped his back and lungs. Found by accident and we are still in shock. The psychological wound is great. He is a wonderful and private person and only our son and his family know. Thank you for your reply. E

@lala56, The three year recommendation is only for resected tumors in stages I to IIIa. For the rest of us, the plan is to stay on Tagrisso until recurrence, progression, or intolerable side effects.

I was initially diagnosed at stage IIb and had an upper right lobectomy followed by chemo and radiation. About two years later it metastasized to my brain. Following brain surgery and radiation I began taking Tagrisso. I was cancer free for over three years until I had small recurrence in that same part of my brain. That was treated that with one more round of radiation. Unfortunately that led to brain necrosis. My doctors battled that for over a year before it started spreading rapidly and new tumors formed, again in the same area. Early this year I went to MD Anderson for another full open brain surgery. that was followed by 10 rounds of low level radiation to that region of my brain. since the cancer has never shown up anywhere else the decision was made to increase my dosage of to 160MG per day.

Now that you have some context, I'm doing fine. I just keep rolling with whatever life hands me. I'm still working full time at a job I love, and I keep in touch with friends and family.
