Leakage around the sides of incontinence pads? What's better?

Posted by rruben02 @rruben02, Aug 6 11:06pm

I am 74 and quite active. I have had surgery, RT after recurrence and then more Rt and hormonal therapy after spread. The Teena incontinence pads that I use leak around the sides when i exercise or lift the grandkids. And now i
am staining chairs when i sit without even knowing. The adhesive is not good and they tend to crumple up.
Is there a better pad or will pull ups be better?

Thanks for all the info. Super helpful. I will talk to my PT tomorrow. Think I will follow your example. I have to squat a lot to care for my pets, leaking and side blowouts is almost daily. I think I have a very long way to go.
Continued success! Hope to hear more good news as you progress.

@midwestjulyguy My PT specialist gave your software and process a thumbs-up! : ) Will add this to my routine, I think I need an extra day in the week...

Thanks again!

I didn't know Depends pad were a new design, but I didn't start buying them until last May. Couple times I have had leaks with not that much actually in the pad. Also, have tight briefs. Think sometimes I must not get the pad position correctly. Sometimes when lifting weights they get soaked, but don't leak. Then today for the second time I got a leak and hardly any wetness in the pad, except on left edge. Must not have had pad put in correctly.

I never found a pad better than Teena. Are you using the heavy duty (overnight pad). I found they would last 3-4 hours during the day. I was 100% incontinent until my oncologist told me about the AUS implant. This implant was, and continues to be, a life saver .
So try a different Teena pad and look into the AUS implant.

Sorry to hear that your incontinence is so severe that you needed the AUS pump. I have tried the Prevail pad for a week so far,
But I think it may be better than Teena

Positioning may be a problem but also everything
May just shift around with the weightlifting. I think extra taping may be the answer, though haven’t tried yet.

Never heard of extra taping, but could see how that could help with some double sided tape. Also, be more of a pain to put on. Everything just seem to point to the left and that is where I get the leaks. But its only happened a couple times. Looked up on Google and it said 75% men dress left, I try to point that guy right, but he won't stay that way, wants to go left. Then if I put more pad on left, it real feels strange, especially when sitting. Anyway, I guess leaking only a couple times with pad in almost 4 months isn't too bad. They pullups never leak, but they are just too hot in this heat. Do use them pullups at night, but only leak about 5 - 7 ml a night. They actually feel dry in the morning, but that isn't what the scales say. Sometimes I wonder if part of it is sweat. Still getting up 3 - 4 times a night and go like a race horse, but not day when moving around. Having cancer and not a very good pathology report is enough- don't need this incontinence.

Tight boxers or underwear is a good hack. Stops the penis from moving around. Make sure you have a good DPT to help you with incontinence. Make sure you have your diet dialed in as some things, like coffee and soda can cause bladder irritation.

I am a fan of Tena, can be hard to find but they work well.

Thanks for the tips
I’ve had prostate cancer for 15 years. S/P RP wth elevated PSA’s 5 years later and underwent RT to the prostate bed (extensive testing showed nothing . Few later PSA rising again and this time PSMA scanning showed isolated metastatic node in the groin.
Underwent focused RT and hormonal treatment. PSA remains undetectable , but Leakage has increased. Did the PT with probe and measurements and still do daily Kegels. But 2 weeks ago i stained a leather chair that everyone saw.
I appreciate everybody’s insight
I switched from Tena to prevail pads and I think that helped. Tried underwear with pouch but don’t find the pads fitting in so well.
Maybe i just need to be more careful on days with strenuous exercising and lifting and pee more frequently or just change the pad during the day.
Don't know but all very frustrating.

Depends for Men just put out an "improved" pad. What a ruse. It's smaller and less absorbent. Unfortunately it replace the Depends for Men version that I found useful if not perfect. I've complained with no effect except a $4 coupon toward products of the manufacturer.
