Atrial tachycardia

Posted by shells14 @shells14, 5 days ago

I am 72 and just started with atrial tachycardia episodes. I wore the holter monitor for two weeks which showed it. My EKG was normal and so was the stress test. I am scheduled for an electrocardiogram next month. I also I a follow up with the cardiologist beginning of October.
I have not drank or smoked for 34 years. I only drink 2 cups of coffee each morning.
I am wondering if stevia root can cause heart palpitations? I also was eating protein bars and high protein yogurt. It stopped after I stopped the protein bars but now I had an episode yesterday after not having one for 3 weeks. The lemonade I drink also has stevia in it and so does the yogurt? I am trying to find out why is all? Any help is appreciated.

Gerd has been under control with Prilosec. As long as I take those meds, all is calm. 2.5 months...

I know that caffeine affects my HR so I am currently drinking decaf. You might try the same to see if that helps.

@d050526 how (when) does your GERD show up? I query me having it OR wonder if I am developing Pulmonary fibrosis due to my cough . Am on Amiodarone

@cruisenurse I expect you know already that amiodarone requires follow up periodically? Your cough may be something quite unrelated to amiodarone, but amiodarone may not be 'helping you along', if you knowwhattamean. Personally, I would feel much better knowing and would consult with a pulmonologist.

I found that all artificial sweeteners triggered my Afib, including Stevia.

@gloaming Thank you so much for your input, much appreciated. I have been on the Ami since January, doctor mentioned taking me off of it in May , we did blood work to see if there were any side effects with kidney, liver, n he is watching my skin n corneas too. We are weaning me (200 mg to 100 mg to 50 mg since the May visit) n I suspect (hope) next visit in Sept . it will be disc. I read about the Ami n Pulmonary fibrosis so am worried now of course. If the cough worsens or even persists , I picture a pulmonologist in my future thank you for that idea?
