Atrial tachycardia
I am 72 and just started with atrial tachycardia episodes. I wore the holter monitor for two weeks which showed it. My EKG was normal and so was the stress test. I am scheduled for an electrocardiogram next month. I also I a follow up with the cardiologist beginning of October.
I have not drank or smoked for 34 years. I only drink 2 cups of coffee each morning.
I am wondering if stevia root can cause heart palpitations? I also was eating protein bars and high protein yogurt. It stopped after I stopped the protein bars but now I had an episode yesterday after not having one for 3 weeks. The lemonade I drink also has stevia in it and so does the yogurt? I am trying to find out why is all? Any help is appreciated.

Recent clinical evidence indicates that caffeine does not increase the risk of atrial fibrillation (AFib) and may actually be protective. The DECAF randomized clinical trial, published in JAMA and presented at the American Heart Association 2025 Scientific Sessions, found that patients with persistent AFib who consumed an average of one cup of caffeinated coffee daily had a 39% lower risk of AFib recurrence compared to those who abstained from caffeine entirely.
