New nodule

I had a left upper lobe lobectomy for 2 adenocarcinoma nodules and left lower lobe wedge in February 2024. The lll had aah out to the margin. A nodule was identified in that area 6 months ago 8mm. It was stable though a pet and ct until my April 14 ct. It is now 6.5 x 11 mm and more solid. My oncoligist wants me to wait until July to have a pet. I want it now. He's afraid it may be too small now but I think the mere fact he expects to grow makes me want answers now. The chances that it's malignant are very high and the sooner I know the better. I can't have more surgery and even a bronchoscopy is dangerous for me. I dont know if they'd treat this as a recurrence or a new primary. Im worried.

@ladylennie it's absolutely worth it. I'm seen at the regional cancer center where I live in Seattle, but I still needed more specialized care and have another oncologist at Dana Farber in Boston. This way I get to have her expertise and she works with my Seattle team so I don't have to travel to see her often and can do scans/labs locally.

That's what my oncoligist wants. He's a great dr but has little experience with multifocal lung cancer. I've already had chemo and immunotherapy based on the misdiagnosis, which was the fault of Moffitt, not him. Now he wants to be sure he's handling this correctly.

@mamajite I have an appointment at Memorial Sloan Kettering on 9/11 for another opinion. It's necessary because I'm the one who "diagnosed" multifocal.
In the meantime, I'm leaving for a 3 week vacation today. Amsterdam, cruise around the British Isles and London.

@ladylennie glad to hear you have that appointment. if it's not too late, my dr sent me with some in case I get sick Rxs when I was in Europe last year. it can be difficult and expensive to see a dr/fill a prescription when you're outside the country. bon voyage - enjoy your trip! 🤗

Actually i found it very very inexpensive in Denmark. Last year I had a cardiac ablation and. 3 weeks later was in Copenhagan and had an afib episode. I went to a local er and they did the normal triage and I saw a nurse. I ended up leaving before seeing a dr because afib self limited. In the US that would have cost over $1000. The bill, sent when I returned home, was $51. Not even worth submitting to my travel insurance.

@ladylennie good to know! my mom had a similar positive experience in Spain with needing to get her port flushed while traveling. on the other hand, a family member had COVID in Dublin last year and without a resident ID number, we had to pay the manufacturer list price for Paxlovid, which was $1500. not covered by insurance or travel insurance.

@mamajite I guess it varies by country.
